Do we know this though? All we know is that per Hollywood Reporter, it's being referred to as "Avengers 5" per "sources".

Bear in mind, this is the same publication that announced Pom for Superman: Legacy, which Gunn had to deny and they had to retract.

We don’t know but removing “Kang Dynasty” is a good indication that the focus on Kang is being removed.

But we don't even know that it's being removed, is my point. Referring to something as Avengers 5 as shorthand internally doesn't necessarily mean anything.

I guess I'm just saying that it's way too easy to get caught up in rumors, leaks, etc. even from "reputable" sources, and read way more into something that what it is.

For example, you're leaping straight from "they're calling it Avengers 5" to "Kang's no longer the villain".

Saw it somewhere else, but rather than a simple recast get someone huge like Denzel and just make him an older, epic version of Kang.

Kang could still end up being the villain, but with Cretton leaving and Majors being fired it seems like what exactly the story will be is up in the air. Marvel is probably looking at all of their options.

I saw somewhere someone throw out the name Colman Domingo? I'm not familiar with his work so I don't know if he'd be a good Kang or not, but I have to believe there are tons of actors out there that can take over the role and do a great job with it.

I would absolutely be okay with Chris Tucker dominating the MCU

I don't know if he'd be a great Kang but he is a terrific actor and would be a good grab for Marvel.

I don't think the general audience will even notice if they drop Kang entirely and pivot to something else. As long as a trailer drops for an Avengers movie that looks like fun, people will be there. Unless the genre truly is as cooked as it is starting to feel

Avengers 5 may not even be a traditional Avengers vs villain film, but just the first part of Secret Wars.

I mean, I don't know about everyone else, but I assumed this from the moment it was announced. I mean, Infinity War and Endgame were two parts of the same story, so why would it not be the same here?

My take away from that tweet is that everything we thought was being saved for Secret Wars is being worked into Avengers 5 and then some.

It’s a shame we’re probably going to have to wait at least 8 - 9 months before we know anything.

I honestly kind of sort of wish this whole leak/"scoop" culture could go jump off a cliff. I feel like it misdirects and obfuscates the narrative more often than not and builds unrealistic expectations in people.

Honestly would be down for Avengers 5 to transform into secret wars part 1. That's a story that needs breathing room.

Sorry, I know I shouldn't let this bother me, but it's like an itch in my brain.

Infinity War was Endgame Pt. 1, Endgame was Infinity War Pt. 2, so when you talk about Avengers 5 "transforming into Secret Wars, Pt. 1", I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Was I the only one who thought that was always the case?

Like, this is what I'm talking about with scooper culture, where they regurgitate news that should have already been understood and present it as a new development, and people buy into it.

From what I understood Kang Dynasty was never directly secret wars part 1, it was just going to lead into secret wars. It originally would have been more like Infinity War/Endgame where Infinity War had a completed story which would be a pre-cursor to endgame, but it's not endgame part 1. Kang Dynasty would have probably done the same. Now with it potentially being Secret Wars "part 1" it can literally be a story worthy of 2 films.

With peace and love, I think this describes a very large percentage of your Marvel posts.

I wouldn't consider Infinity War a complete story seeing as how it ended on the huge cliffhanger of the heroes losing. I just don't see a difference.

It was complete. It began with Thanos seeking the stones to bring balance. It ended with Thanos completing his mission. It’s a Thanos central film and had a beginning, middle, end to that story.

I guess. I look at it more like an Act I and Act II kind of scenario, but at this point we're just looking at trees.

The forest is that for all we know, the two upcoming Avengers films will work exactly the same way, and were always meant to.

We've got no way of knowing, and I don't believe anything said so far changes that.
