tbf, if this movie can turn the current jumbled state of the MCU into something on par with a film that had 10 years of buildup, that’s a feat
I am expecting nothing more than what I usually expect from a Marvel film: a break from depressing reality.
maybe i'm dumb but is it not leaving money on the table to refuse to push this to later? last two avengers dropped in the final weekend of april and they made over $2b each. and they'd get the premium screens they badly need

If this were delayed to May ‘27, then Secret Wars wouldn’t release until 2028. It seems like Marvel wants the 20th anniversary of the MCU to coincide with the start of the “new” universe after Secret Wars.
I don't think it can. Like if Shang Chi shows up, I think it'll get a more "oh, yeah, that guy!" reaction, then an "OMG he's back" reaction. The first phase just can't be touched for how well they planned and executed IW/EG.
I don’t think Infinity War was liked because of “he’s back” reactions. Most of the characters had appeared in films released one or two years before Infinity War. It was well received because it handled an ensemble cast effectively and had high stakes. As for Shang-Chi, yeah, a lot of reactions will unfortunately be “oh, it’s him from five years ago” because Marvel couldn’t figure out how to squeeze him into anything after all of the delays. Fumble of the saga, imo
Infinity War is peak MCU. Movie flows so perfectly you could start watching at any point and would want to finish it
I showed Infinity War to my students because a bootleg came out three days after it was released in theaters and they got mad when I kept asking where Batman was.
