I mean, it would be super weird for him to call himself Cap when he isn't. I don't see the big deal with using his name. You know who he is.
Has there been any confirmation from reputable sources that Steve Rogers is definitely in it? (Let alone the lead)
Tbf there hasn’t been a reliable source for 90% of what has been said about this movie. Which I think is a good thing. Keep the story details on lock down. Chris Evans was confirmed by THR back in November 2024 that he would be in the film, though. Would not be surprised at all if the rumors of that character and his importance is true. Just like Thanos said: you could not live with your own failure (phases 4 and half of 5), where did that bring you? Back to me (RDJ and Chris Evans). It’s poetry
There are people who have seen the trailer, which focuses solely on him, and who have shown evidence to the mods on the spoiler discord. That’s the closest evidence we have that he is in the film. No idea if he is a lead. Who counts as a “lead” in Avengers films is pretty arbitrary, because so many characters have limited screen time, even those who are central to the narrative.
Today at work my manager was showing something to me and a coworker. It was something in a database where there was a main KPI and it had variants. The other guy didn't really understand so I told him "it's like Kang where there was a Kang prime and variants, right?" and my manager said "oh, I don't watch Transformers". I was speechless.
If I'm being honest, so am I. You don't just trot out a super nerdy reference like that willy nilly. You have to know your audience.
Steve being a main character actually makes me more optimistic for this film tbh. The best thing they can do is lean on what made the MCU great and Steve Rogers is one of those things
