Yep. *Captain Marvel rescues Tony and Nebula* I am picturing: “oH oF cOuRsE a WoMaN hAs To SaVe ToNy” *Captain Marvel wants to go kill Thanos on her own* I am picturing: “oH oF cOuRsE sHe ThInKs ShE cAn Do It AlL bY hErSeLf” *Captain Marvel has to leave and help a bunch of other planets who are suffering the same fate* I am picturing: “yEaH bEcAuSe ShEs SoOo StRoNg ShE CaN dO iT aLl By HeRsElF” *Captain Marvel returns and blows up the ship* You know what I am picturing.
I liked the shot of the women rallying, they’re genuinely great characters, but also couldn’t hold back my cynical take where only one female character has a solo movie and it took them eleven years and in a universe where there are few enough permanent notable protagonist deaths to be counted on one hand, two of them were women
My coworker was complaining about the women together but I know he wouldn’t bat a fucking eye if it was all the men
I liked the scene where the women gathered together to help Captain Marvel try to get the gauntlet to the van, but I’ve also seen questions about how some thought it was odd that even though they were in a huge battle, the women were able to find time to stop fighting and rush over to Captain Marvel. It didn’t kill the immersion for me and I don’t see it as criticism. I just reply and say oh well, not everything has to make sense as long as it looks good on screen.
Saw it this morning with my wife. Loved it. Took all day to process my feelings on it, and then GoT happened and feel like my emotions have been in hyperdrive all day. Somebody came out of our showing in the imax theatre talking openly about the plot and an AMC worker with a very acute sense for spoilers chased him down about 20 feet and said something like “sir, please don’t spoil the movie for others.” Thought that was nice.
Thats fair but I see Gamora's death as making sense to the story. He only loved her so theres no other way that couldve happened with a male. And Nat's death wasnt a "fridging" situation where they did it to just motivate the male characters. She made the decision to sacrifice herself so Clint could be with his family. I find giving her that powerful heroic moment more satisfying and empowering than giving that sacrifice and heroic moment to Hawkeye (which they probably wouldve done in the past).
There’s a point when he’s being hit with multiple energy beams and you see his armor start to peel/disintegrate. What teases.
K. I will say since I was just kind of made aware of it, it WOULDVE been nice if Black Widow got some more recognition at the end. Tony got a huge funeral. Did Nat really get anything other than a bench throw by Bruce?
she didn't have kids or family so she had no value obviously also how would it work when she died 7 years ago I'm not sure the time travel stuff doesn't exactly make sense
If Im understanding you correctly, it was the future Nat that died. She just died while she was in the past. The Nat from the past was still on Earth and still lived
I don’t think we will ever see another movie dominate the box office like this did this weekend and that includes the mighty mighty Star Wars and avatar
This movie had everything I could have asked for. That entire final fight was incredible, particularly the moments when everyone who died showed up and when Cap used Mjolnir. I also really liked the way they chose to end Cap and Tony's character arcs. What more could you do with those characters after this movie? Nat's death is more disappointing because I think there was a lot more that could be done with that character going forward. I could nitpick little plot holes but the good outweighs the bad so much that I don't care at all. This felt like the perfect end to everything they built up over the past 10 years and also was a much needed reset. I hope we get another Avengers movie at some point with Sam and Carol as the leaders of the new team.
Agreed. I actually felt bad for Star Wars during the final act of this film and I preferred that franchise over marvel
I could see an MCU movie in the future beating it. I imagine with the growth of the fanbase over the last two years many will continue with the next saga and once the X-Men come in I could definitely see a big X-Men/Avenger team up thing beating it. That said they have to now strike lightening in a bottle again with all the perfect castings and the chemistry between them all like the OG Avengers had. Thats going to be close to impossible
star wars and marvel are multibillion dollar installments, the corporations will be fine would be nice if disney would use some of those billions to pay lower tier workers who didn't get the bonuses that high tier executives like bob iger did. or if they'd use those billions to pay the thousands of workers they're laying off in the fox merge. or to fund Bill Mantlo's medical bills. y'know.
Them striking gold twice with casting and chemistry I highly doubt will happen they got extremely lucky with who they got and they all gelled really well and had really good chemistry. Can’t wait to see what the future brings. On the X-men front no one they cast will be as good as Hugh jackman
Thats very true, but ya never know. If Feige's running the joint I definitely wouldnt be surprised if they are able to strike gold again.
Just got home from this, and now i need to watch tonights GOT lol. Here goes another 2 hours staring at a screen (Including Barry)
I really wish I couldve seen this opening night. Nobody clapped for the stan Lee cameo but me and it bummed me out. Opening Night crowds are the best
