I think Joss was definitely teasing a Death appearance but the Russos went for a more practical Thanos. probably for the best
Yeah I definitely think it was just taken in a different direction following that movie. I feel like working in Death would be a hard sell to the broader audience who isn’t as familiar with all of that. I feel like they will get a little more wild with the next saga
Here's what I want to know....he took Mlornir back to 1945 with him, where the fuck is it?! Was he just walking around the house with Peggy, hanging pictures up with Mlornir? Is it sitting in his garage while his grandchildren try to lift it?!
That one scene reminded me of that line, "Woman up," from Big Hero 6. Probably more hype for me than when Cap did the thing. My crowd was very responsive, maybe clapping a little too much (like omg it's just the Marvel logo chill out), but it was cool. I do look forward to seeing this again on Disney's streaming service alone in my room with subtitles on. Kind of feels like a missed opportunity that we didn't have something like a second season of The Defenders to explore the effects of the snapped-away and the come-back-five-years-later-without-aging Leftovers style.
Man this fucking movie. Last 30-45 minutes I was tearing up. Everything just hit the right notes in terms of emotion and fan service. This truly could not have paid off any better. I’m still coming to terms with never getting a new movie with RDJ Iron Man and Evans Cap, but goodness did they wrap their arcs up in a pretty bow or what. Rest easy IM.
I was having an anxiety attack during the climax so I guess it was good haha. That being said, I wasn't as bothered by the Thor stuff and when Rocket slapped him I actually thought to myself "well shit, I actually haven't thought of trying that before" lol. Usually I just ask my wife to tell me I'm okay but maybe if she gives me a brisk slap on the cheek it'll take my mind off of the crushing feeling in my chest and on the pain of the sting on my face instead. Whatever, just thinking out loud here. The fat stuff was hit or miss and probably a bit in bad taste...the Lebowski line was great though. Wish we got more of certain characters but also accept in the end it was about wrapping up stories for the original avengers so I get it. Am curious if we're going to get Thor as part of the GotG in GotG 3 now. I guess they could use that movie to set up Thor 4 if they're gonna do another one. I hope Hemsworth never gets tired of playing Thor. I understand the Hulk balance thing, but I figured once shit got going that he was gonna go full Hulk, kinda disappointed that I didn't happen. It was funny as shit when it happened, but why did present Hulk smash some things up in New York? Like what was the point of it?
Did Hulk even fight in the final battle? And now the hell do you return the soul stone. So Cap had to go back in time and give an infinity stone to the red skull?
Read through 10 pages of Endgame discussions and not a single person has commented on Hulk's fire wardrobe fits
I think Thor will at least make an appearance in Guardians 3. hopefully the rumour of Taika coming back for a Thor 4 is true as well. I think they're plying Hemsworth with all the comedic pitches to get him to stay in the MCU, lol they had present-day Hulk smash some stuff so he'd blend in, I guess, like no one would see him and realise he wasn't the New York-era Hulk. it was just for the sake of the gag though
I thought Professor Hulk's cgi was downright incredible at points. The detail on his face in close ups was amazing and delivered a ton of nuance and emotion.
Some thoughts: - Wish we could see how Cap returns all the stones and Thor’s hammer. - Needed just a tad more Evangeline, maybe a quick reunion with Scott scene. - So sad and shocking to see Tony die without even being able to speak any last words. - Thor and the Asguardians are comedy gold - Wish Natasha didn’t die so early.. really thought Scarlett did a great job in the pbj sandwich scene. - Paul Rudd is also comedy gold - I’m a sucker for time travel but was still worried at first if they could pull it off but they did, loved how they basically went back to the other movies - I thought Infinity War was impressive, but it’s so wonderful how they tie the whole marvel series up so nicely in this movie. - Loved all the cameos. Tilda as the ancient one was a great surprise, seeing Loki being Loki made me giddy, and even the few seconds of Natalie got me excited too. - Going into this movie pretty much blind to what is gonna happen is so effective, appreciated the marketing on that. - My mouth was agape throughout that entire battle act.
The final battle against Thanos had too much clapping and guys in the front standing up for my taste. Like, when each person or group showed up through Strange's portals, it was a new round of applause. Do we have to clap for everyone? Once is enough! For me, clapping is acceptable once when everyone comes back, and once when Cap gets the hammer.
