I still love that Natalie Portman ended up being vindicated over being upset that Patty Jenkins was fired from Thor. Karma is a bitch, Marvel.
Thor 2 was definitely a victim of the MCU's growing pains, and there is no doubt in my mind Patty Jenkins would have made a great Thor movie had they allowed her to.
What makes this really bizarre to me is that Russo brothers' next film is about a protagonist (Tom Holland) who has PTSD...
Endgame: anything Me: I understood that reference. This was a treat. I yelled when Cap did the thing.
This isn’t something I necessarily needed to see, but it just occurred to me that Steve would have to return the soul stone to Vormir which means he’d probably run into his old pal Red Skull like “ohhhhhh “red guy”. So this is where you went. Sucks for you. Anyway, bye.”
Someone just pointed out to me something I totally forgot about. We finally get a Tv character in the legit MCU. Jarvis, the OG.
I really enjoyed the hell out of this. Sucks not everyone got much time--but probably for the best anyway given how many people are in it. was actually surprised the body count was so low. Glad Cap got a happy ending.
Sif definitely continues to be a disappointing absence. She was so integral to the first movie and they really set up that she had feelings for Thor and then just dropped her. I guess maybe General Ross even though he had a cameo in Infinity War. Still no Betty Ross. She’s been perma-snapped. I wouldn’t have minded a Quick Silver cameo even though it wouldn’t have made narrative sense. They had that One Shot for Iron Man 3 featuring Justin Hammer discovering there’s a real Mandarin. With all the talk of cameos and tying things off I wondered if they might touch on that but no dice.
I also think it could’ve been cool to see Daredevil, etc. from the Netflix shows make a brief appearance somehow since they’re all in the same universe and also ended around the same time.
I really wanted to see him dunk on Red Skull so bad. Like him telling Skull all the stuff he missed out on becoming a spooky ghost man guarding a Stone.
i saw this in a theater full of kids... they fucking went bonkers for literally anything. It was very much on that border of annoying/endearing/embarassing. At one time you're like, hey they're having fun and its making fun for a atmopshere. But then it's like, wtf, you guys are cheering for everything, this is weird. im never having kids
Really enjoyed this. Some good laughs, and some really emotional moments. I definitely have my fair share of issues with it (I preferred Infinity War, and think the pacing was all over the place), but there were so many cool moments where I can accept it for what it is
Also, goddammit, this movie really just shows how poorly utilized Scarlet Witch was in these movies in general. What a fucking badass at the end there.
but anyway many thoughts.. - definitely long. GF not pleased when looking up the run time half way through. - When they announced what the plot was gonna be, about getting the stones at different past times, i said "ahhh clever assholes..." and also "shit, thats gonna take a while" - this had the right ending, with the right final show off. It's what i wanted and it's what i got. - captain marvel was the biggest fucking waste of time ever. I want my $15 back - Kinda funny how they finally made certain heroes actually useful...finally. - Hawkeye being a vigilante murderer...umm.. what? That kinda gets glossed over - Elizabeth Olsen's character is so bizarre throughout this series. They're really trying to make her a major player, but she never got her own movie (really), and when Thanos said "i dont even know who you are". Bingo. - Not as good as Infinity War because Thanos is reduced to "bad guy" in this...and no Guardians (which are the suppliers of the best comedy). Thor tried his hardest though. - I dont understand why they couldn't just explain to their former selves what was going on? They wouldn't believe them? Overall, felt like a good ending movie. I was into it. Satisfied. And for me, that'll do it. I mean right...this is it. I only started to see these movies because it was leading to an end and i wanted to keep up but... that's it. I dont care about Black Panther 2, Spider man 9, Thor 5, even Guardians 3 (even though i like guardians).
