Not sure what the Venn diagram looks like between this thread & fans of Christian music, but I found this pretty amusing.

    and a millions screams...

Gonna take a few minutes to type up this post while I prep the theatre for my first of 3 straight 12 hour shifts...

While everyone is clearly excited for the film and their weekend that surrounds it, please don't forget that not everyone is going to have a fantastic weekend based around the Avengers. Thousands of (mostly 16-18) year old employees of theatres around the world are going to have a pretty shit weekend that involves them working long shifts, not getting to see the movie right away and worst of all being treated fairly poorly by movie going customers.

Just think about that for a minute and try to put yourselves in that situation. If I can convinced just one person to think twice before they get overly angry that lines are long (for what possibly will be the busiest movie in the history of film) then I feel like I'm accomplishing something.

I'm not going preach too long about this and I do want everyone going to see the movie to have a great time and enjoy it, but remember to try to make the experience great for everyone as I'm sure the theatres are trying their best to do for you.

I'm going to feel terrible for the workers cleaning up all the empty bottles filled with piss after these showings

I love it too. There's some questions about how it works logistically, but that goes for all the time travel in this movie tbh. The subtle details like Bucky knowing he's not coming back when they say goodbye, his delivery of the "it was beautiful" line? perfect sendoff for the character imo.

As opposed to Natasha's death. Which is tacky, bad, cruel to the audience and a disservice to the character. Still wrestling with my thoughts on how badly they handled that whole thing.

  6. Did not like that either. Strange they killed her and not Clint, but it's her solo movie that's confirmed. Can't be a coincidence.

Is she still dead when the film ends? I saw someone claim she can be seen at the end.

I personally don't believe that Soul Stone sacrifices are permanent, whether resolved in this film or not.

I believe her solo movie is confirmed to be a prequel/origin story. Which I guess should have been a big flashing signpost but at least I thought she would be there for the Assemble moment and go out fighting. Self sacrifice is totally jarring with her arc and the scene itself just sucks - if Clint dies and Nat lives, and she retires to take care of her family, you have an infinitely more satisfying end to an arc which was always about her letting people in and letting down the walls her years as a spy built up

also I love Jeremy Renner but he is just not good with the serious scenes like my god

It would be pretty wild to bring her back and not like telegraph it at all to the audience right? Plus Hulk, Cap, Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye all have notable dialogue about how she's still dead, so it's pretty downright nasty if they're gonna reveal that was permanent later on.

I've never thought of tipping theater employees before, but I'm liking the sound of it for weekends like this.

I realize it is very early and this will take more time and viewings to really determine, but I feel like killing off Black Widow was much more random and done for the surprise factor as opposed to the best storytelling reasons. It really seemed to me like a result of the filmmakers knowing a lot of people expected Capt America to die and wanting to surprise everyone. The fact that the scene itself was done poorly is just like the icing on the insult cake. Really my one major complaint for this movie which is pretty remarkable really.

For what its worth, obviously this isn't my rule or my opinion, but I know that Regal doesn't allow their staff to take tips. It ends up going into their register... so I wouldn't do it there.

I imagine if someone gets caught taking a tip when the policy is to turn it in, they'd get in trouble/fired. Stupid as hell, but I bet 99% of theaters have that policy.

This kind of sucks big time to me. I realize it is frustrating to have your movie that you worked so hard on spoiled ahead of time by people spilling plot points, but the whole obsession with spoilers by both sides seems weird to me. To me it is so much more important that a movie is great and can stand up overtime in the long run . The whole spoiler thing is basically a non-issue two weeks after a movie comes out.

This type of plotting seems to come about because of this .

If that's how they played it, I guess she is probably dead? For all the flack that Marvel gets for not killing characters, they haven't really had a bait-and-switch yet that wasn't revealed within the actual film. (Notable exceptions being Coulson, who was revived on the non-Feige project Agents of SHIELD, & the Snap deaths, which, duh.) Dead never fully means dead where superheroes are concerned, but if they had short term revival plans, I'd think there'd be a wink to the audience in this one?

But, hey, maybe they really want the Black Widow film to be a mystery of sorts, on if she's alive or not, w/ flashbacks so that ScarJo is still present throughout? That wouldn't totally suck if done alright. I've never lost the impact of a well written comic death after it was later reversed, tbh, so while I don't want that embraced quite yet by Marvel Studios, I'd be open to it.

Yeah, it sucks. At past jobs, I've had customers or clients send me things like gift cards or little gift basket things and it was always considered that I can't take anything personally due to 'conflict of interest' or 'favoritism' bullshit and it always pissed me off how stupid that was. I kept what I could get away with though, obvi

I hate that she went like she did but I also much prefer she stay dead. All the Avengers ended their arcs kind of well or are in a cool new position for the next Phase, they really shouldn't walk any of it back imo

I was going to add that some employees can actually get in trouble.

If you’re going to tip it’s better to speak to a manager or supervisor and let them know “I appreciate this employee and I’m leaving this amount as a tip for him/her”

Yeah back when I worked at a super market, they made us offer to load up a customer's bags in their car for them, and we would get in trouble if we took a tip. At least when it's outdoors and a customer leaving, it's easier to sneak away with
