The type of metal the band shifted to on City of Evil and the albums after I remember referring to as “clown metal” at the time, as it was so zany all I could think of is clowns jumping/moving side to side playing those zany guitar riffs. Still hold to that opinion today, haha
But I still dig you loved that album! Any piece of art/music you can consume that much and still love it is great in my book, haha (very few albums that are like that for me).
I'm a drummer and the drums alone on that album are some of the best I've ever heard on a recording, they just pop. RIP The Rev. also shoutout to Andrew Murdock for producing the hell out of that album
Saw them for the first time in over 10 years last night and they sounded incredible. Got the better set of the 2 nights co headlining with SOAD. They played 12 songs and 7 were different compared to night one. Got chapter four, almost easy, bat country, a little piece of Heaven, gunslinger, save me, we love you. Visuals were sick. Only negative is we lost unholy confessions. They made the crowd chose between afterlife and unholy confessions.
i saw them with alexisonfire two years ago mostly for alexisonfire and was genuinely blown away by how a7x were. incredibly high caliber live band also tbh i still love the newest album lol it remains my favorite record in their discog
hell yeah! sucks no unholy confessions, that song is top tier a7x, i don't think i even know afterlife?
i have genuinely no clue where they go from the last album lol. i loved it though, probably my favorite album of theirs
Ummmm....hmmmmm.....huh.......yeah. I don't know about that one. I should probably give it another listen or two, but I'm not sure I want to.
