A huge plus for the series is that there isn't really a discernable Avatar "fandom" and therefore none of the insufferable things related to that

Give it a couple more movies.

    Hyped for volcano Na'vi.

Avatar 4 and 5 are going to be about Arctic snow Na'vi and underground cave dwelling Na'vi respectively. Calling it now.

I would have assumed Chapo Trap House was very popular around here.

I posted their review of Avatar 1 earlier in the thread lol:

I love chapo. But I feel like they’ve been gaslighting me with this avatar obsession for years

The only places that I've seen what appear to be Avatar fandom are Chapo, Jenny Nicholson, and that one episode of How To with John Wilson.

James Cameron is disappointed in all of us

The first fact you must accept about the tulkun, the marine species introduced in “Avatar: The Way of Water,” is that they aren’t whales. The director James Cameron is adamant about this.

“I nearly got through the whole film without calling it a whale in front of Jim,” said Dan Barrett, who served as senior animation supervisor on the film as part of Weta FX, the famed visual effects company based in Wellington, New Zealand. “I did once, and you were immediately corrected."

Chapo's semi-ironic bit about James Cameron being the Anti-Elon Musk is pretty good ngl.

For that scene alone, it took two weeks for Weta’s systems to simulate just the movement of the water. That’s before the millions of processor hours required to render the graphics. (The total amount of data stored for this film was 18.5 petabytes, while “Avatar” required one petabyte.)

    fuuuuuuuuuck

I NEED to see the naavi build organic matter space ships (that like take them to earth with some spacetime bending newtype metaphysical vibes)

I have been dreaming about the tree ship things since I saw the first Avatar

I NEED TO SEE THIS BEFORE I DIE

    So fuckin' cool

Only James Cameron lets his hero be like, welp, time to die then motherfucker

Uh what? That villain was literally saved to most likely be antagonizing stuff in the sequel once again (and followed by the inevitable redemption arc)

It’s like a dbz villain that Goku allows to live after fighting to near death.

yeah, cake and eating it too, but Jake Sully thought he was dead

cameron did something interesting with it. now the spider-jake-quaritch narrative can go somewhere in the next movie

also come on dude it's a hype scene

Oh got it. Yeah Jake doesn’t know he is alive. I’m not upset with it though. I like when some villains get redemption arcs so I’m interested in seeing where this goes.
