Avatar: the Last Airbender was an animated television show that aired on Nickelodeon from 2005-2008 it is considered by many people including myself to be one of the greatest shows ever created. so much great fight scenes, so much great world-building/mythos
Book 2: Spirits was actually my least favorite. I enjoyed the 1st season, especially the end with the murder suicide on a kid's programming network.
lmao, yeah, i didn't think they were gonna go there but still, the whole first season was just filled with so many things they could've done better. it's all i can think about when i watch it; story wise, it's just mismanaged, a result of Bryke (bryan+mike) not knowing if they were going to get more than one season.
I wish that Korra had a story that linked all 4 seasons. That's what made the first iteration of the series so compelling.
I love how any Airbender thread I go to on anysite just devolves into a LOK season debate and outrage
Hello, my eyes teared up at the very sight of this thread. My favorite animated series of all team, beating out the X-Men animated series from the 90s. I don't even want to talk about LOK (which had equally great and terrible moments) because TLA was so god damn wonderful and emotional and has had such a profound effect on me. It's my #1 pick for TV show that I would take with me on a deserted island (even over Parks!!!) This took the place between the Scooby Gang on Buffy and the Wolf Pack on Teen Wolf, with Sokka fulfilling the Xander/Stiles role for me.
I read The Search and The Promise. Both were good reads. In The Promise you learn what happened to Zuko's mom.
I wouldn't say horrendous. I just wanted Korra to stop being an absolute terrible brat. The villian of Season 1 was terrifying and well worth it alone.
season one started off super strong and kinda petered off because it avoided too much of what it introduced in the beginning morally/ethically, season two was kinda whack because it was all over the place but worth it for the avatar origin story, and then s3/4 were just flat out fantastic front to back imo
s1 and 2 lacked any sort of depth-- talking about the characters, the plot, the exploration of the themes, etc
I found ATLA to be a 10/10 show and the first two seasons of LoK were like 6/10 for me. so not HORRENDOUS, but just rly bad compared to the original
