I mean, it's not though. They were part of the same script cut in half and the films were made at the same time. Like, it's not an opinion, it's literally what happened.
I mean, okay, well, it's weird that James had half the family abducted and rescued twice from a big boat in the same waters after being abducted by the same villain. We are over nine hours into this franchise. How much longer do we have to wait for military guy to move to the good side? How long are we supposed to care?
Here, I don't have the energy to recreate the argument so you get my reheated leftovers, much like the script for this movie.
Why do you think this is a thing that will happen? I think having Quarritch stay a bad guy is by far the more interesting direction, and he doesn't have a very compelling reason to "switch sides" right now. I think it's more likely he'll just become a different kind of threat.
I don't think he has to but the writing seems to hint that he will and I am so painfully bored of being teased by it if they don't actually just get it over with and do it
I think it's giving him depth in that he's not just an out-and-out villain and he has things he cares about, he's willing to work with the heroes when it makes sense, and he's starting to be exposed to the wider view of the world he's in, but I don't know that means he has to start being a good guy. I think it just means he's not just a one-note villain.
I wear glasses and I just wore the 3D glasses over my glasses glasses and it was fine. Like, this movie is why 3D even exists.
I would hate that, it sounds uncomfortable and like it would hurt the clarity of the film. Like getting glare on your dirty windshield in the rain while wearing glasses heh
Totally fine, totally not uncomfortable, totally amazing just having a blast watching it in 3D as James Cameron and God intended.
Tbh I am trying to remember if I saw the first one in 3D. I remember watching it at the nice theater near me over the border in Massachusetts. Not IMAX tho. I think it might have been 3D.
I think the thing that still bothers me about this franchise is hearing Sigourney Weaver playing her teenaged blue person clone. It's just so weird.
I'm glad we can at least agree on that. Like I know the character isn't in her 70s and I am sure a stand in kissed the actor playing Spider. But yuck.
I’ve never had the sense that Quartich is ever going to outright side with Jake or at least become part of that side of Na’vi society. It makes sense that he gets more drawn to the ash(?) Na’vi since they are far more brutal and cynical and don’t have any sentimental connection to Eywa. He’s obviously becoming more and more influenced away from normal human society, but he’s not a complete shell of a man like Jake was in Avatar 1 and he has far more of an internal conflict about it I’m guessing he’s going to try (and fail) to chart some third way of existing as he wants, and I assume he’ll ultimately die in a noble way since Cameron loves his action movie tropes. But I imagine the endpoint for him and Jake is “enemies who nonetheless begrudgingly understand and respect each other”
