Band was pretty much dead or on its way when Alex left. Them re-recording The Curse was the last nail in the casket
It's probably just promo for some new release or tour but the possibility of them releasing The Curse re-record and it being received so poorly they split up would be extremely funny lol
Pretty much the only thing I’ve enjoyed from them post-Alex leaving was that Audioslave “Like a Stone” cover… proved to me that I still enjoy Brandon’s vocals when the song is good. The new stuff just hasn’t been it.
I don't really get the dislike for the newer stuff, I thought both Baptize and TBDOL had a ton of great songs. (Maybe it's because I'm not that connected to the older stuff, except for a few songs from mid 2000s albums.)
Yea that seemed the more likely, starting to tease next album mode. Which is fine, I have no qualms with them making new music even if it's not for me and hasn't been for a bit. It's doing The Curse re-record that really gets me, it's one thing if they did it because they get more ownership on it than the original, but maaaaaan at that cost is rough
I honestly only listened because you said this, and expected to dunk on this opinion, but uhhhhh, that's exactly what this sounds like, hahaha. I did not have Atreyu starting the Swedish Melodic Death Metal revival, but here we are.
