Can’t tell if that was the highlight or the moment when paperboi picked up his drink to reveal the name of the bar
Yeah this was fucking amazing. My interpretation was that Lorraine is the manifestation of Al's self-doubts and insecurities? She pretty much called him on all of his shit like his friends financially depending on him and his lack of expertise in the music business. We even saw at the beginning that he was self conscious about his hat and she immediately called him on it looking stupid and he took it off. It kinda clicked for me when Earn said it was Al's mom's name Side note, I really like how they actually had Earn come through and negotiate Al owning his masters. I expected the cliche of him not doing it but I really like how they've made him an actual good manager now
I had lit up before watching the episode so I was REALLY feeing this one. Loved that Earn moment at the end showing his loyalty and business decision savvy.
If one of the themes of this season is ghosts then here’s my hypothesis: Alfred’s ghost is his mother Darius’ ghost is his Nigerian heritage Earn’s ghost is Van
Damn, if she hadn't had that whole episode with Darius at the beginning I would think it would be a really cool twist to reveal that Earn had been imagining Van in Europe this whole time
such a great episode. when Earn said Lorraine was Al's mother's name that hit me like a freight train BTH is a generational talent, everytime an episode focuses on him it's a classic
This was a wild ass episode, I definitely didn't see it ending in a flamethrower chase coming lol. I obviously can't personally relate with the struggles of people of mixed race wrestling with their identities but it was still a really interesting topic to tackle and it was gorgeously shot. Really funny too
