Look, I got the vaccine as soon as I could. I trust scientists and doctors, I wanted to protect myself and others around me. But I can’t fully blame somebody who isn’t thrilled about “the government” saying you have put something in your body. I absolutely understand that, and in slightly different circumstances I could see me fighting against that. I’m furious that some bullshit “news network” lied to them. I’m furious that they listened to a politician or “news anchor” (who are both vaccinated) over science. But I don’t know, saying somebody who doesn’t want the vaccine is a piece of shit and doesn’t deserve a career doesn’t seem to help anything.
I mean at some point if you’re a influential person like Lakeith it’s your duty to not spout anti vaxx stuff. I’m fine with people not getting vaxxed. My BIL has stated many times why he refuses to, and I’m done arguing with him. Though a lot of people look up to Lakeith.
Then spend more time trying to inform somebody like Lakeith why he's wrong and why he shouldn't say that shit instead of saying he's an asshole who shouldn't work ever again. Being a famous person doesn't mean you immediately know what's right. I've said this so many times, but accountability needs to be more about teaching and informing and less about scolding somebody who says something wrong. If I said something fucked up/incorrect and a bunch of people said I'm a piece of shit and hope I die jobless, why would I try to see their point of view? That would just drive me further into an ignorant group who agrees with the awful shit I said. I understand being frustrated and thinking its not your duty to teach these people why it's wrong, but just going straight to "well fuck you then" is not helping anything.
I don't think lakeith is pro life ??? So I don't think it's really fair to say he's co opting pro choice language when he's just saying you should be able to decide for yourself.
The decision to not get a vaccine is not a decision you make solely for yourself. It’s a decision to put both yourself and everyone around you in harm’s way. It’s a selfish, shortsighted decision that causes real harm to your community. Unvaccinated people are prolonging the worst of this pandemic for everyone, helping to incubate new variants of the virus, and putting everyone who is medically unable to get vaccinated at great risk. They can scream “My body, my choice” all they want (and it is extremely fucked up that they’re using that language for their own selfish purposes btw), but that doesn’t make them right. It’s not just their body that their choice is affecting, it’s the bodies of everyone they come into contact with with as well. Not to mention the fact that unvaccinated people are putting an enormous burden on our hospitals right now, to the point that people in some parts of the country can’t even get checked in at hospitals right away for non-COVID medical emergencies because of all the unvaccinated people taking up beds. If you’re able to get vaccinated, and you choose not to, you’re a selfish idiot. If you have a public platform and use it to promote vaccine hesitancy, you’re outright causing harm. Keep your dumbass opinions to yourself.
no one is saying Lakeith can’t personally feel conflicted. that doesn’t mean he has to use his platform to spread anti-vax shit. obviously lol.
No one is even saying he should get fired, just that they would like it if the show were to move past him because he is sooooo problematic.
Considering how weirdly serious and self important he’s become, I’m pretty happy that he rarely posts anything. He’s talented as fuck, just let the work speak for itself.
Yeah his ego is getting a bit much... and this is ME saying this I really hope he's not buying into his own hype too much
