I didn't realize they called it quits in 2012. Thought it was later than that. I'm so late to the party haha.
Relationship of Command and In/Casino/Out are fucking classics and so is De-Loused in the Comatorium. Never listened to much else from TMV though.
With Omar and Cedric back in ATDI and still doing Antemasque I have to believe they could tour or record as TMV again.
Yeah I think Cedric said something about how hard it would be to get the full band together since everyone has their own projects but I definitely think it will happen.
Can't remember the exact wording, but the liner notes of one of the TMV albums explicitly states that the Mars Volta IS Omar and Cedric. Which makes "breaking up" and then forming Antemasque with 2 other TMV related people pretty illogical to me. Slightly different sound sure, but TMV was all over the place, I think the Antemasque album would have been a nice stylistic addition to their discography.
Yeah, but the thing is that it doesn't have to be logical to YOU or me, or anyone else. It makes sense to Omar and Cedric. They know what TMV is to them, they know what Antemasque is. It doesn't matter what fans think it is or should be
AtD-I > la Volta although the first three Volta albums are sick AF Relationship of Command is a top 10 rock album of all times for me - energy is insane so sad Ward called it quits a day before beginning the tour, I had hopes they might decide to record some new jams... oh well... also, the first Sparta record is a killer
not sure he quit the day before. may have been he was never on board, but they held off on announcing it hoping he'd join before the start.
Last night at Mother's Day family dinner I showed my 92 year old great grandma At The Drive-In... Watching a 92 year old woman dance to One Armed Scissor was the greatest thing my mortal eyes have ever beheld.
my dumbasshit self forgot about this tour and just yesterday looked up dates/tickets and BOTH SAN FRANCISCO DATES ARE SOLD OUT i'm so fucking mad at myself
They put on probably one of the best shows I've ever seen last night, they played for an hour and melted everyone's faces
last time I saw AtDI Omar looked bored as hell - no energy, no emotion, just standing there all lame... kind of sucks because they were such a passionate band... makes you wonder if they're just doing it for the $$$ (I mean, nothing wrong with that, but jeez)
