Sure that's not fair. That was only meant to be a foot note in my spiel. It doesnt change my point or my take on the matter. It can be boiled down to "from a musical standpoint, why do this again, now, when you could be doing literally anything else".
not to sound like a dick but that's really none of our business no ? ^^' maybe they simply missed each others and wanted to rekindle that flame. ok there were some drama but that's between some of them and shouldn't impact our judgment. the music is what matters first
same as my previous post, I think they just want to try ATDI again because they were frustrated by their final years and didn't feel like they had done everything they wanted as a band. It doesn't surprise me that Omar and Cedric experimented so much after that. sure, it's a bit confusing how straight forward these new songs sound like, I truly hope there will be some curveballs on that record because as of now, it seems like it will basically be a good reunion album, which I don't mind, but on which there aren't any risks taken. we'll see
Cedric and Omar were both heavy users through their first Mars Volta album. also, this is pre-new music reunion, but Cedric talks a lot about it being about making amends between all of the members. Cedric Bixler-Zavala Talks At the Drive-In Reissues, His Real Mars Volta Role
this is what most of the USA is like unfortunately. It's rampant in the south, the mid west, north east coast. I just happen to live in Texas so I know about local populations that struggle hard with drug use.
oh yes my bad, what do you think of my next post then ? i think we both have the same concerns though I'm a bit more optimistic
For those asking why ATDI are a band again, I think this IG post from Cedric sums things up pretty well, for him at least

4/4 this is going to be such an incredible comeback record, still wish we'll get few experimental songs because it's been pretty straightforward so far
