Haha, I mean, I wish I didn't feel this way about it. But it feels like a kiddie-version of old ATDI, or like a parody. That's the best way i can articulate how I feel about this album. Does anyone else understand?

 

That's fine to feel that way, but acting like teenager inherently have bad taste, or being older means you like better music, is just misguided and generalizes impossibly huge groups of diverse people

 

I understand the sentiment, generally, I just don't hear it with this album in particular.

But I also don't hold those older ATDI albums in as high regard as most people on this site seem to.

 

Haha, I'm only 21, and listen to a ton of the same stuff I did when I was a kid. There's just something...teenish?....about this album. Like it's immature in a weird, super cringe way for me. But very related to being edgy, like a teenager. Like the lyrics are what I would write if I was trying to be esoteric as a teen. Make sense? Not tryna be a dick, it's just all I hear.

 

I get that. But wasn't that the whole point of them releasing this under the ATDI name? I mean their lyrics have always been like that, they're just continuing in the same vein.

Yeah, ATDI and TMV both had lyrics like that, but they had their moments. But this feels more like trying to recapture the youthfulness while with the original project, that came naturally. Seems just off on this.

Despondent at High Noon is p cool.

I think my main issue with the post reunion material is no Jim/Cedric’s voice sounding more like TMV. Though I expected the latter

 

The EP is solid, I like it.

 

I had no idea that Keely, Tony and Paul are no longer in Sparta. I just saw a Sparta tour pop up so I figured ATDI was taking a break again.... nope, Sparta has a whole new lineup now

 

??? really? i remember thinking it was weird that i heard sparta news because it would be weird for there to be crossover members with all their hang ups. so it's basically just jim ward?

I don’t believe cursive is active rn, and keeley is in atdi now, and the recent Sparta single is pretty bad

 

I hope this post is the low point of my day and it's only up from here
