Ghost-Tape No. 9 is a nice break from all the noise. If it had been a post-Frances TMV song, it would've turned out so cheesy. They restrained themselves here.
Hostage Stamps also works so well as the closer despite it not sounding like "a closer," if that makes sense. Heh.
it depends on the listeners. i loved every single they put out, didn't get the negative reaction at all and am also liking the album haha. i guess people have so many preconceptions and are being way too harsh. i hope there won't be lots of "Jim Ward no there album sucks" and "where are the yells ?????" spoiler alert : there are many, tho obviously not the same amount as their previous stuff. they're there when they need to be. Cedric's performance is surprisingly good. it's the most aggressive he's sounded in what, 15 years ? another spoiler alert : i didn't notice any falsettos. i say that because i know it's something that turned off a lot of people from The Mars Volta. that said : Call Broken Arrow what a song. that's the one that reminded me most of Engine Down's S/T
Torrentially Cutshaw sounds straight out of In Casino Out, like a grown up and more restrained version of that album. Another early favorite. People would have freaked out it they had released it as a single. I wish I could find more post hardcore like that these days.
Yea I was honestly kind of expecting a Refused reaction after how people were taking the songs released so far, I was always down with them so it never got to me but still. Excitement continues.
I don't want to listen to the album until a high quality version pops up, but I'm curious if the music from their original recording announcement clip shows up on the album.
nope, must a be a bside. there's only one song tuned to E Standard like their early stuff and this song, and the aforementioned one isn't that heavy. I hope they'll release it one day, I haven't heard of eventual bonus tracks on some editions yet.
This album is in comparison to Relationship of Command what I hoped the last Refused album would be in comparison to The Shape of Punk to Come
That's a bummer, was looking forward to it. Excited to hear ATDI this week though. Glad to hear the positive reception
This album turned out way better than expected. I wasn't really digging the singles but they fit in so well as a whole.
I've only listened to half of the low quality version and the HQ once, but I have no issues with the production. I wouldn't say that it's the best production I've ever heard, or anywhere near it, but I don't think it gets in the way of the songs at all.
