I don’t believe he’ll be gone forever because even with this, he’s simply too profitable for some scumbag booker not to have as their headliner.
Just had a 10min conversation with a coworker who was explaining to me that this tragedy happened because modern hip hop artists are appropriating punk culture at their live shows. Ummm ok.
The blame has successfully been shifted away from the organizers and Live Nation, who actually bare most of the blame, and onto Travis, the crowd and hip-hop as a whole. I am absolutely NOT defending Travis, he 100% should have stopped the performance as soon as he saw ambulances in the crowd, but he is not even close to the only party at fault here
Seeing all of the stuff about someone injecting people with drugs is fucking wild. It almost just feels like a spin story for people who don't want to admit poor organization.
Damn, was just reading about a 9 year old victim who is still in a coma since Friday. Also a college student who was just declared brain dead. This is all so sad.
Ive been seeing a lot of bad takes about people not looking after each in the crowd. That is not how people die in crowds. Its so sad to think about how these poor kids probably had no idea how much danger they were in until it was too late. Here are some recourses on crowd danger.
I'm having a really hard time with the amount of demonic conspiracy content being posted and shared. One search for the updated police briefing on YouTube and the videos listed include ones promising footage of *jumping demons in the crowd* *demonic portals* and *demonic games* All I did was type in Travis Scott. It's hard to tell if the people posting this kind of content really believe in it.. or are fishing for views. TLDR: What the hell is going on. What is wrong with people. I haven't clicked on a single conspiracy video and I'm being pedaled this trash.
Went ahead and renamed the thread. I'd rather this be a space for discussion about concert safety rather than people coming in and talking about his music. See it happen way too much in other artist threads.
Not looking to defend Travis Scott's actions but moving forward to creating safer events I believe the keys will be identifying and controlling crowd density and behaviour. Ideally this should be done with systems that include performers as a risk factor and minimise them as a control factor. A situation where Travis Scott or whatever artist is currently on stage is now responsible for the well-being and safety of thousands of people needs redesigning. Education is super important. Crowds are inherently dangerous and even with better systems there will always be a danger, attendants need to be aware and should have access to the safety procedures in place. There's also probably a discussion to have about minors; consent to the assumption of risk and how to manage them at these events as they are the most vulnerable to harm.
