it's not though, it just builds distrust. you never think you got a good enough deal because if it was that good of a deal they wouldn't have sold it to you at that price.

dealerships are bullshit and the laws surrounding them are too. should be able to buy a car directly without having to pay a middleman to sell the car.

A lot of times that I have to sign a new places apartment lease, I low ball the rate in the area 2 to 300 dollars. They very often meet me half way. Theres a formula in there somewhere.

I get your point, but I've had good luck with it. You can look up what the car is worth, what your trade in is worth, and go from there. If they try to fuck you, you can always try another dealership. I'm into cars a little, so I'm certain my enthusiasm is lost on a lot of people haha.

 

I think it pretty much depends on the market

 

with places where Im renewing Ive only done it succesfully a couple times.

with new places Im moving into without a prior lease, I try and do it every time.

 

He and I live in the same market though!

 

If youre already in a lease you are much more at their feet

 

I'd much rather it be a set price point that everybody pays.

 

I would rather be up sold and waste hundreds of dollars and have ten minutes less of a stressful situation

 

My girlfriend went to the dealership for the first time yesterday for an oil change and tire rotation and it was $80. Yikes.
