Loved this so much. What was with the ultra suddenly creepy ending to the play portion though?

 

This was great. Biggest laugh in the theater was Dear Alien (Who Art In Heaven

 

DAAAAAAMN that was SOOO good

 

Pretty sure it's supposed to be realizing "the meaning of the play"

 

I was a bit unsure about this when I first finished it but the more I think about it and play things over in my head the more I like it. I want to see it again now that I think I've got a better idea of what it's going for.

 

Also geez the reviews saying this is him being overindulgent/way too hard in his style are so wrong lol. It diverges from the stuff from the memes waaaaay more than his last few mobies

 

The reviews are all over the place for this. Can't wait to see it lol

 

Loved this a ridiculous amount. Best since Grand Budapest at least.

 

This was great. Gonna see it again soon but, yeah this was excellent.

This was okay. I wish he would stop casting so many movie stars, though; his early films had a lot of charming roles from amateur actors.

 

Didn’t quite connect with me. I love individual things about it, but it felt like Anderson was getting in his own way with the two stories. Maybe I just need more time to think on it.

 

The framing device definitely worked better in The Grand Budapeat Hotel.

 

When I was watching it I wasn't exactly sure what the intention was with the multi layered nature of it and felt like it just confused the narrative more than anything. The more I think about it though the more connections I see that add a lot of depth to the themes and characters. I think it's very well done.

 

A movie I’m going to need to see multiple times to be honest. I’m not even sure how I feel about it. I saw it as part of a double feature last night and I was almost too tired to keep up with it. Especially after the excellence and relative simplicity of Past Lives, this was overwhelming in every way.

 

Jeffrey Wright should get a Best Supporting Actor nom for this but he won’t. Tom Hanks probably will though, he’s very good here.

 

Think I'll need a second viewing. But a lot to like.

Haven’t seen anyone say that myself, though I tend to avoid all dialogue about films these days, but definitely agree with you and noticed it/felt so during my viewing.

 

Fuck, when he cracked at the final burial, it got me.
