oh my god you are all so negative. the movie isn't even out yet. this is the first movie in the series. its supposed to introduce things, like an origin story. for movie goers and people who haven't played it would be pretty confusing otherwise. yeah the present day is the worse part of the games but this isn't a game and it's an introduction
I don't think it's overly negative to decide you're not excited for a movie because the main reason you want to see it is cut down to oblivion for the main reason you don't want to see it. It could still be good, but it's a pretty rational reason to be disappointed.
well, to be fair, the last post you made didn't really explain what you just said. i just will reserve judgment about the movie itself until i actually see it. i think most people looking at it that way are gamers who have played through the series and collectively agree the present day is the worst part of it (post AC3, I completely agree) but again, this is not a game and they're re-introducing the franchise, but in a different medium. a lot of people who are going to see this probably know little to nothing about the games and it's not going to make sense if for the first movie, the percentages were flipped.
I actually thought the Abstergo stuff in the first game was really cool. Like when you were just kind of in the dark and youre roaming around the lab trying to find out more information. I was interested and wanted to play more present day stuff but then everything just went to shit.
Yeah they did. And it's not a poor excuse. The movie won't have the exact same audience. Assassin's Creed – The Present-Day Story So Far - UbiBlog - Ubisoft®
Actually when I think about it, 30 minutes to set up before you get to the Animus and then 30 minutes after the historical sequences to wrap things up is probably how this should go... I take back my objections
In my opinion, without the present day aspect, Assassins Creed would be verrrry boring. The present day aspect really raises the stakes of the power struggles and Templar vs Assassins in the past
I think the entire story of Assassin's Creed is boring and dragged through the mud at this point, what keeps me coming back is playing gorgeous levels in during the Renaissance, the French Revolution, or Industrial Revolution, etc. Don't know many other video games that take you there.
Everyone is already giving up on this? I'll wait to see it before judging. I'm also in the minority of people that actually looked forward to some of the modern day stuff in the series. I think this will do just fine.
I think for AC to work in a movie you need to have a more predominant modern day section. As a gamer playing the series you know why you're in the past, you have the entire database within the game at your disposal, and there's steady input from Shaun and Rebecca. The audience member watching the movie needs to understand that it isn't just a movie set back in a historical time period. The more modern scenes they have the easier it will be for the audience member to digest the Assassin v. Templar narrative.
Very true. Desmond's story is what kept me playing 1-3. After the present day story seemed to stop, so did I.
Black Flag was my all time favorite hands down. Locations, Characters, Missions.... That game was stacked.
Same - At least, Desmond's story made me finish 3. I fucking HATED Connor. But I have some faith in the modern day stuff after how Rogue and Syndicate went. I need to know what Juno is up to. I want to know that Desmond's sacrifice wasn't for nothing.
Bingo! So his sacrifice let Juno loose on the world right? She obviously stopped the solar flare that would destroy everything but then where did she go? I thought the conflict was that she would save us and then enslave us. I'm so lost in what is happening now lol
