I only got to see them once supporting because they never came over here so didn't really get the chance to see them live, which may have opened them up to me more. I just gravitate towards those brighter sounding songs with a bit of pace and life to them whereas I feel like Duarmete and Sleepyhead just bore me tbh. It's definitely a preference thing!
...now I've always pronounced it properly, but only because it shares the name of one of my favourite Shel Silverstein children's books. Which I always assumed it was named after because, well, lion. But it's only now just occurring to me that might not the case and maybe it's named that for a different reason.
ATAL are still probably in my top 5 bands of all time. Agreed about Self-Titled being fantastic and super consistent, and the follow up still having some really great songs in a lot of experimental directions. I think into the flood might be my favorite release because it’s just so consistent and the title track is probably the best song in the band’s career. They are also a band that I got really into before I started playing music, and now when I come back to them with all the music knowledge I have now I just appreciate them so much more, which doesn’t always happen with my old favorite bands. They were doing some really creative and layered arrangements back then.
