The Hoard and Empire were pretty important songs to me freshman year of college, along with Clouds. and I still cannot listen to Timothy without getting emotional. "is your love really love? is my god really God?"
man, ya''ll gonna make me spin it again. its been too long. CNS is a masterpiece. timothy remains one of the best closers of all time
I'm listening now. The fact that the last three tracks total around 24 and a half minutes and they are flawless is just astounding. 'Timothy' and 'Wrong Body' are incredible. The jam at the end of 'Timothy'. I'm struggling for words to describe how much I love it.
Always wondered about the HOHW track titles. Interesting titbit of info there and cool to see 'Petty' was a reference to Tom Petty.
Honestly I think a lot of it was stretch based on the line, “there’s a kid on the cover and I know he doesn’t believe in the misery that he sings” an he was on the cover of AP Magazine at one point lol. It was pretty dumb
What happened to these guys? I remember hearing something about a possible album in 2016. Is that scrapped?
They release those two songs in 2015. Then they added Stephen Keech (from Haste the Day) to the line up but a week or so later Aaron Lunsford said that they were done permanently. They cancelled all scheduled shows. There was a Tooth & Nail podcast a couple of months back talking about what had happened with the band. It's worth listening to if you're interested in the band. Basically Lunsford and Cody have totally different mindsets and struggle to make the music together due to coming at it from different places (Lunsford more driven by needing to provide for family, Cody more of the 'creative' guy). The podcast seemed to suggest that it had helped them see each other's perspective but there's been no public news or progression since then.
Damn, that's a shame. I really liked their musical progression. Thanks for the information, I'll definitely check it out!
I remember when that song first connected with me, played on repeat while I was cutting grass in ditches one summer. I love the long drawn out intro into the sweeeet noodly lick combined with that simple drum groove. Good stuff.
