I also was just saying it was good, didn't think you were being critical. Probably would have helped to explain ha. Hawkboy was Cody and Aaron. They did two EPs, if I remember right one with Tyler Orr (HOHW producer) and the second with Matt Goldman (their first two records). They're both really great. Two Bit, Mother London, Wide Road and and Gotta Get Out were some of my favorite tracks, though they're all quite good.
I still feel like they were tbh. I felt like after CNS and HOHW a bunch of other bands started to follow suit and change up their sound. Particularly Oceana
They were close to being untouchable for me. One more album in the vein they were going prob would have put them in Thrice territory for me. Currently i think of them like the Felix culpa or crime in stereo.
Finally got SILYAYD record on come bottle, so wonderful. But easily their worst album. Would love more Hawkboy ish stuff though the latter two ACB records are some of my all time favorites.
Relistening to SILYAYD today and The Widow definitely still remains one of the best songs this genre ever produced.
He was the one who introduced me to, not only ACB, but this entire scene of music many moons ago. He's a keeper! He also introduced me to Absolute Punk haha
Well here we go... Happy 10th Birthday to Come Now Sleep: Still one of my top 5 albums. So much depth - some of the songs on it never fail to move me 10 years later.
Come Now Sleep is, in my opinion, a masterpiece. I remember the first time I listened to it and Contact came on..just hit me like a ton of bricks. I don't think I've ever cried to any album as much as I have to CNS lol.
Love hearing stories like this. Hope there will be more in this thread but I've enjoyed reading the comments! I had the same initial reaction. Some of the lyrics verbalise thoughts and feelings in my mind that I'd never been able to get out before. I was 17 when it came out and it has honestly impacted my life.
I can't believe they were all younger than I am now when it came out. That's just insane to me, to be writing something so powerful at such a young age
I honestly cannot properly articulate how Come Now Sleep makes me feel. I believe it to be my favorite album of all time.
