I read both books, really gives some great insight into what was going on behind the scenes. It's amazing that CNS and HOHW even got made with all the problems surrounding the band. Cody basically did HOHW on his own with some help from Aaron. How they ever made such great albums with all the distractions going on is beyond me
My understanding is that they didn't even record Gates during the same session. It was something left over from a previous time - they recorded it because they were playing it as an outro live or something like that. I remember it being on Myspace for a while. I don't know if anyone can confirm that but it would make sense that they didn't want to have it there if they didn't feel like it was from the same record or match the lyrical content of what they were trying to do. @cyclones_37 does Aaron mention Gates in the book?
I don't think he mentioned anything about Gates. That would make sense it was a T&N decision to put that on the end of the album
Crimson sounds much better than the 2015 songs. I was on the "please release something without TJ" camp but I like his performance in it. Very reminiscent of bands like Hot Cross, Touché Amoré, or The Reptilian. If they give us a mix of Hell Or Highwater and early 00's screamo/post-hardcore, I'm fine with that.
It will probably never happen, but if I could get a Come Now Sleep tour I would honestly be set for life. The SILYAYD was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to but CNS is probably my favorite record of all time. I need it.
I love HoHW. But it’s nowhere in the same realm as CNS, in my opinion. It also has Daughter which is probably the only ACB track I don’t really like
Ya nothing against Hell or High Water but Come Now Sleep is hands down their best record. So stoked i just picked it up on vinyl. Can't wait to spin it.
I’d mostly just want a HoHW tour because we never got one when it came out. would much prefer to go cry for 55 minutes while they play Come Now Sleep
Hmm. There are definitely things I like about that song but it sorta lacks the emotional resonance that I go to this band for. First listen tho, so who knows what I’ll think after more listens. Excited to see what this album is gonna be
Playing it for a third time now and it's already grown on me. It's a nice continuation from the Hell or High Water sound. Also better than those other singles from a couple of years back imo. Excited to find out what else is on the way.
