Yeah, I love Labeled! Even the bands that are so old they’re just a random name to me have been interesting. T&N just doesn’t produce that level, groundbreaking, trendsetting music these days. I’m still hoping for new ACB music. At least that Labeled episode got them back together and touring. Music has got to come eventually, surely...?!
Oh yeah I've loved all of the episodes too. I've liked hearing about bands I didn't follow too. Does make you miss the classic T&N bands... Yes there has to be some new ACB music! Or at least HOHW on vinyl
I'm re listening to the 2 singles they released in 2015 rn but ya i also would love new music from ACB.
They didn't really hit me like their three full length albums. I think the lyrics and the style were just a bit confused - they weren't sure who they were or what they wanted to go for. That's my interpretation. Can imagine that what @Dog with a Blog says about them being better live is true. What would you want a new album to sound like? I'd like them to build off Hell or High Water. '84 Sheepdog (and Gates) showed that they still can utilise TJ and Aaron vocally to great effect. I like all of their albums but I'm less interested in a return to SILYAYD vibes unless it is done really well (ie. not the two 2015 singles which ultimately, for me, missed the mark).
Talked to Cody a little bit about the record this weekend. They recorded with Matt Goldman at some studio outside of Nashville. Only vocals are left. Should be out in 2019. They played two new songs. One of which was one they played on that run with Emery early in the year and a new one they played for the first time on this run. Sounded pretty sweet. Very stoked for the new record.
I love them, but their antics... well, mainly Aaron's, made me kind of distance myself from my love for them. I'm intrigued though.
I kind of doubt it... TJ is still in the band, right? I’d love it if that were the case though, honestly wasn’t big on their two reunion singles at all and I’m hoping this album is more of a return to Come Now Sleep/Hell or High Water with some new ideas.
So I didn’t even know this until looking at their Wikipedia just now, but this second reunion since last year has had a pretty different lineup huh? Cody and Aaron are the only members from the second and third albums still in the band, Colin and Chris aren’t part of it. I had no idea.
I decided to listen to the two 2015 singles again randomly... Prince Of Planet Earth sounds like a Dance Gavin Dance song and it’s the weirdest thing. I love DGD, but I don’t even think ACB does that sound *that* well... I hope when this new album drops it feels like it has more of a distinct sound.
Went back and listened to those too, and remembered why I only ever listened to them once when they dropped.
I don't think this band can personally live up to the 3 full lengths they've put out. They were masterpieces back in the day and I think the new album will not live up to those expectations.
TJ is definitely on the record. The new songs are definitely different from the two they released in 2015, but still more similar to that than SILYAYD. Definitely some Hell or Highwater vibes, but way more melodic. Obviously with screaming too. The current lineup is Cody, TJ, Aaron, Stephen Keech (Haste The Day), and Hunter something. Cody said he played in MCMB at some point.
I expect to like it as much as Hell Or Highwater. I don't think anything could ever touch Come Now Sleep.
Yeah I gave up trying to keep up with this band's lineup a long time ago. If they put out new material I'll give it a shot tho.
I haven’t seen anyone mention “Goldmine” in here but I thought that song was great. Second half is bliss.
