Artists similar to earlier Cursive?

I've been listening to a lot of Cursive lately (Happy Hollow era and earlier). They did interesting things with having few choruses and weird song structure, but it wasn't purely for the sake of being weird. That's a hard combination to find. Their later albums are less interesting to me (they lost their drummer who apparently wrote the odd time signatures and transitions in their songs)

Does anyone have any recommendations for similar artists?

(I don't really care for Brand New)
