Jason Bateman Unveils ‘Ozark’ Trailer, Talks Upcoming Netflix Drama & New Season Of ‘Arrested Development’

Interview with Bateman (primarily not about AD) but a couple tidbits at the end - they start shooting the first week of August and it seems even with the amount of time it took to get S5 off the ground Hurwitz is sticking to his plan of post-revival AD as a three act story, with the new season as Act 2 aka don't expect any more closure from S5 than from S4.

I still think it's going to be the narrator/Ron Howard. The opening line is "it was may" but his voice is all blown out and sounds like "it was me". Mitch layers jokes. Prop me on your shoulders when I'm right.

 

Wasn't the implication there that his voice was rusty from the long break between seasons?

 

Yes, that's the first layer. The other is Ron Howard killed Lucille.

This article is basically the same but this little tidbit got me excited:

"Bateman did also speak to the complicated fourth season, saying that the Netflix format experiment “didn’t really come together as well as [Mitch Hurwitz] wanted it to.” Thankfully, per Bateman’s words, season five looks to be correcting one of its predecessor’s biggest shortcomings: “[We’re] really excited that we get to be together in these.” In other words, seeing all the Bluths interacting with each other as they did in the heyday of the series should be a huge step up for season five."


I am fully on board for a season 5 now. I love the idea of a murder mystery, that's hilarious.

 

I still stan for season 4 and respect the hell out of the risk Mitch took. Also I think it's hilarious. But I am glad they'll all be together again in S5.

 

I can't believe this is actually happening.

 

Season 4 needs to be watched as quickly as possible for it to have any sort of lasting effect. Sooooo many subtle jokes pay off episodes later.

 

Yeah I mean with the intersecting timelines and stories it was clearly designed as an experiment in form with binge-watching in mind. Also, like everyone, I am so damn curious about how a chronological edit would work. Still really want to see that.

 

Hoping that gets released before 5. Ron Howard re-recorded narration and everything.

So glad it is rolling along.

 

the whole murder mystery twist they're putting on it is going to make this a lot of fun, i think. stoked.

 

There are shades of Michael Bluth in Jason's Ozark character. It's pretty funny at times.
