I think the two biggest problems with Netflix AD is the the timeline and the amount of call back jokes.
I love gay GOB. The green screen stuff was still really jarring but I enjoyed it overall and I'm looking forward to the next half. The only thing I didn't "get" was the Tobias son stuff.
The plot has gotten way too serialized and convoluted. Every character interaction requires a full minute of Ron Howard explaining things. It completely disrupts the show’s rhythm.
Every scene with Maebe & George Micheal is the clear highlight of this season and I wouldn’t be mad if the show continued with them as the focal point. I’m ready to be done with George Sr and Tobias. Tobias used to be my favorite but oh how the mighty have fallen.
My main issue with it. I found myself watching this if I had absolutely nothing else to watch. I feel like the jokes are clever enough and more or less what you'd expect from the show but it just doesn't have the storyline and absurd situations like the original series did to back them up. Basically: same punches, bad setup.
I don't even think it has the jokes there anymore. I think this is a step down from season 4 which was already a huge stepdown from the original series.
Finally finished and even though it did get better as the season went on, it was still a struggle to get through. Not at all looking forward to the second half of the season now.
I just finished episode six. The last couple have at least been a little better, but man...those first few were a serious chore/bore. I chuckled at the “Geo-bead” “Well, today’s the day” joke.
