Wasn't saying he looked older (obviously, time has passed) just out of shape/rough I guess. Michael Cera's split-second aging in the post-punch scene did make me laugh though.
They really should not have split the season in two, the place where it ends does not feel like a satisfying mid season break at all. I enjoyed it, and while it was more enjoyable on an episode to episode basis, I think I got bigger laughs out of S4.
Unfortunately this did very little for me. I barely laughed at all. Episodes 6 and 7 were alright but other than that I really didn’t like it. So far my least favorite season. I actually think the dramatic beats for the characters were handled much better than the comedy. Hopefully the next eight episodes are better. I’d prefer they just wrap up these characters in a meaningful way and end the show.
Overall I really liked this. Some low points (debrie/marky/tobais' 'son') but they were all pretty minor. I think I laughed more than at season 4, but idrk. I think I definitely got bigger laughs from this one. Thought it built up to situations with multiple characters ending up in the same spot each for their own equally absurd reasons in a way that was much more similar to the original seasons, and those are always the biggest laughs in this show. I was iffy on the overall plot for a while but I like it more now, still not totally sold but seems like its going in the right direction. Thought the line-by-line jokes were better than S4 but not as good as S1-3, but that's a high bar. Still pretty confused about the timeline and who is Oscar and who is George, but I assume that'll become more clear on rewatches and when the second half comes out, hopefully soon.
I agree. I think they are too smart for their own good. Every storyline didn't need to be overarching. They needed to have a few easy breasy ones that can be resolved in 22 minutes. I didn't like the Perfecto stuff but other than that she has been on fire for me the last few years.
started rewatching the entire thing to get on the right path for S5 and my god the third episode is unreal. there's a joke or a twist every three seconds, could barely catch my breath. i don't remember liking it this much the first time
Tobias playing George Michael killed me. “You’re not only finding me in your son’s pants, but you’re finding out how the sausage is made.”
I think this season is successful when they’re coming up with new jokes and bits, but they’re relying a lot on old jokes/references and it’s unnecessary.
Okay it's good to hear stuff gets better after episode 2, because I really wasn't feeling the first two episodes and have had zero desire to watch more. Will give it another go tomorrow
Three episodes in and not enjoying it. Feels like it’s suffering from all the same problems as the season 4 remix, which is troubling since that was a bit of a Frankenstein (‘s Monster) and this is how S5 is intended to be. Hoping it gets better.
First episode was rough, but the rest of them were great. Laughed out loud a few times, specifically at Ron Howard's dad and the bit with Debrie wearing the sheet "She's a Muslim!" "She's disrespecting Muslims!" "She's a ghost!" "She's disrespecting ghosts!"
Two episodes in ... I kinda hate it. A few good jokes. The story is, boring as fuck. Fingers crossed it gets better.
Dunno if you’ve ever seen his old YouTube channel, but has some of my all time favorite YouTube videos. Not just his awkward interviews, but some of his sketch stuff is amazing.
