Again, the thinking of others is only going one way. Why not think about those who don’t want to click on the tags? Why cater to someone who hasnt seen it and can’t discuss it anyway? As I said above, it’s pretty clear I’m bored. You are free to stop replying at any time.
Not clicking the tags is simple laziness. I'm not ruining anyone's experience of consuming art by making them click a box (not that I necessarily agree that spoilers ruin art, but seeing jokes out of context before you watch sours them a little).
netflix is different tho and spoiler tags = inclusive of people who cant watch everything right away but still want to take part in the discussion
“Oh wow, the AD thread has like 30 posts in the last hour. I wonder if the new season posted early.” - A naive kbeef2 approximately three minutes ago
That's not how that discussion works. Discussion of any kind shouldn't be limited. Meaning if someone just started season two of a show and the thread is about the show as a whole (which this one is) they should be able to talk about ANY part of it without worrying about feeling like they're being going to be excluded. Spoiler tags are just considerate. It's such a small amount of effort to be courteous to someone else. Why is that such a problem? It's one thing when it's like "this thread is about Solo the movie" vs "this thread is about the Star Wars franchise". Do you see what I mean?
Again this is only going one way. Going into a thread for something you haven’t seen but care about after it’s release is foolish. You wouldn’t be ruining anything. They are purposefully going to where Discussion is. If they see something out of context it’s on them.
Again, feel free to talk to Jason about updating the policy to be different for Netflix releases. I’m not the one arguing against the policy here.
I'm on your side in terms of movies. I'd say it's fair game if Solo comes out and you're in the thread. Netflix shows are different, and the fact that you keep quoting the site rules is dumb as fuck, just use your head
My head tells me not to go into threads that I haven’t seen all of something. As I’ve said before, if I still want to post something I use the function to post a reply without going into a thread. It’s very easy.
Well, I'd rather engage in conversation as/right after I watch something. If I'm watching episode 3 and someone prefaces their post with "EP 4 Spoilers" I know to avoid it. If someone posts "Ep 1 Spoilers", I can engage with that discussion. That makes the most sense to me for a Netflix show.
Let's all be real, we may all disagree, but Greg's right about one thing: without having this conversation with Jason, this argument is futile. Nothing will change.
So much of the point of posting something is to engage others and be engaged with so this just seems like a crappy alternative. When 10 hrs of a show drop at once it's completely reasonable to want to discuss aspects of it with others when you're 25% of the way in, and you're not an idiot if you care about being relatively blind to specific jokes/plot points of the remaing 75
Cool. I get it. But that’s your choice to go into that thread where even if the majority agrees on that, all it will take is one new person who just posts openly because apparently reading the policy is stupid to most people.
I will never understand why spoiler tags are always the hill you die on. You always make people feel shitty for using them. Get off your high horse for just one thread.
In this case, it’s 2 hours and change of tv. It’s probably going to be shorter than Infinity War if they stick to the 22 minute episode structure. I honestly can’t recall if they are doing that for this season. So it really doesn’t apply in this case. In a 10 Hour plus show? Sure. But this assumes you need to engage as you post. When I’ve done this before I’ve posted from outside of the thread and when I finished with all of it I went back and replied to quotes and such and picked up where I left off from that point of the show.
We could all just block this dude until we're caught up and have some fun conversation at our own pace while being courteous enough to type JUST TWO EXTRA WORDS to not ruin the show for others. There is literally no negative to using spoiler tags, and only positives. Unless you can't handle hovering over a dark spot on your screen for a second.
Spoilers should absolutely be used for Netflix shows that drop a whole season at once. Just preface your spoiler with “EPISODE 1” or something so people know what you’re talking about. People like to talk about things as they watch them Going into a thread of a movie after it’s out and wanting it to not be spoiled is dumb though
