Ill be honest i was too busy eating and didn’t notice but i went back and holy shit that’s bad lol Lucille 2 on the stairs was more jarring for me.
“And of course I only propose to do this out of love. Love for... “Anne” “Aaaaand God. Love for and God”
This is extremely bizarre but I’m actually loving it. I liked s4 but I think I’m liking this better after 2 episodes.
Whenever this recut project was mentioned in the past I always imagined it would not turn out well at all. Like, if it ever did come out, it would just be Mitch hurwitz’s way of saying to the fans who didn’t like s4 “see? It wouldn’t have worked in the traditional way”. But that’s not what this is at all, it seems like a lot of care was put into making it feel natural. I’m really happy with this.
Two episodes in and really diggin it. I always liked S4, but yeah... this might be better. I love this show though, always multiple laugh out loud moments every episode
Very strange experience. Feels like a bunch of the jokes that didn’t land in the original come across much funnier here, like Heartfire having that little sound effect adds a lot. At the same time some of the of the funnier moments don’t work as well now.
Kristen Wiig and Seth Rogen's parts fit in SO much better told this way, it's better in small doses that fit with references better. I'm somewhat shocked how many new jokes and moments there are, I wouldn't have expected less, but it's really great. I forgot how many big name guest stars they got for this, fun stuff.
Hurwitz himself didn't like the original cut and always wanted to do the chronological version. I'm excited to watch this. I'm also very surprised they removed the original version from Netflix.
Yeah, the re-edit is really working for me. It’s nice to have some of the weaker storylines spread out. Getting through 2 episodes of only the George Sr stuff was a total drag the first time around.
the season starts a little messy, mostly because of how much recapping and jumping around they have to do, but after a couple episodes it's smooth sailing and i think the recut has worked much better from what i've seen. having multiple plot lines helps the pacing a lot and make the weaker stories more manageable (i'm fine with a few minutes of the george sr plot a time). there are still some slight issues - i still miss seeing the family interact more frequently and you still don't see characters for large periods of time (maeby doesn't show up at all in the first third of the season, GOB and tobias have largely been absent for five or six episodes at the point i'm at), but i do think it's an improvement on a season i already liked quite a bit. very very glad this ended up releasing and cannot be more excited to finish it up and wait the hopefully extremely short wait for S5.
Really stoked to see this, haven’t watched S4 in the 5 years since it debuted. Always loved it and how it messed with the streaming-TV format and meant to go back but never did for whatever reason. Can’t wait to spend the weekend watching the new cut.
Also the scene where Tobias and Lindsey are buying the house from Ed Helms, was there always that really poorly dubbed in dialogue for Tobias? If it was newly recorded for this remix I find it hilarious how little effort they put in to making it sound natural.
I only watched season 4 once and only remember like 1% of it and this new cut is like a whole new show. I've only watched a couple of eps so far but it's amazing. Is any of this new material because there's stuff I literally have no memory of at all.
The AD twitter account posted a bunch of gifs that maybe hint at a Mother’s Day release? Hard to say for sure
