S4 was weird. Still funny, but felt like a different show........really lags in spots, and some of the stuff didn't really work. Sorta felt like a cover band version of AD to me. Really hope S5 is more like S1-3, shorter running time per episode, full cast available, self-contained episodes.
I was watching season 2 ep.14 the immaculate election, and there’s a student who walks by and called George Michael “star dork”. I was like wait a minute. Rewinded. In my astonishment I looked it up to confirm. It’s Armie Hammer lol Idk if ppl know this already but I was proud I caught it since the shot was literally only a second
Also. This is about the 5th time going through Arrested Development and every single time I forget how incredible this show is. Ive picked up so many subtle jokes I never caught in the past. They also set up Gob/Steve Holt in season 1 or beginning of 2 and dont even get to it until season 3. the hand jokes start early in episode 2 and the seal doesnt happen until the end of season 2. I cant imagine there will be a time where Im not in awe of the writing, characters, or acting in this show. Easily my favorite comedy. Cant wait for season 5.
It’s not that silent ; ron Howard was recording the narration just a few weeks ago. And Netflix doesn’t like long build-ups to Shows so it’ll come out pretty suddenly at some point this summer or fall I bet.
There were definitely more set photos and tidbits being released during S4 production, but yeah I'm not worried. Mostly curious (I was hoping they'd get it out for Cinco de Cuatro)
Netflix is in a very different place than they were when s4 was released. It was one of their first like, 4 original shows.
I wouldn't put it past Netflix to do a very short marketing campaign for this. Announce the release date one week, maybe two in advance with one trailer.
As someone who has slightly more info on the back end of Netflix from working on a Netflix show... yes it is entirely true that SO MUCH goes on behind the scenes before any official announcements, and they love to announce right before something is out without a ton of notice
yeah, a real specific roadmap for something without a commitment like Netflix sounds risky. if people are champing at the bit for Arrested and they go "coming November 2018", they may well lose a couple of months from folks in-between
Yes I’ve noticed that for original shows but that strategy became clear with the Cloverfield commercial/announcement.
It was also like the 3rd or 4th piece of original programming that Netflix had. It needed more marketing because people didn't think of Netflix as having their own shows yet.
The short answer is that Shout Factory owns MST3K and we sold the streaming rights to Netflix. We make the show, them they air it. I don't deal with anything Netflix specifically however, just the content they air
