i think it does have to do with growing older and seeing a better beauty to bullshit ratio these past two years. most of this material was written and finished quite some time ago. i think "a way for me" is the newest song in that respect. which i finished back in september. some of these years old songs still unfortunately ring true in some ways and fortunately don't in others.
"What can change the ways my mind dictates the place I stay?" Such good stuff man. I understand what you say about getting older... I think something I've learned is that life doesn't get any easier to understand, maybe harder. But a mirror won't hurt as much, an old heartbreak will slip away. You might be able to listen through that song that once brought you to your knees, and in that way, things become lighter In any case, cool to know a little bit more about your songwriting process. If you ever wanna get into a longer conversation about that kind of stuff, totally down. I'm also in the process of drafting an article about this EP for the DC music site I write for, so look out for that!
that's my homie Jonathan! he lives here in Portland. so many cool cats here that i love edit: here's a new old song arrange - Pulling the Beast
Love you mal, you sent me the album ages ago and I just remember being in awe. This EP has me feeling like that, some of this was part of the album right? Love ya bud hope all is well
