So I have 2 vinyl listens and now 2 digital listens and um.... I'm not going to shut up about this one all year. Easily the best thing I've heard this year. Closer is so damn good.
I hadn't checked in a couple days, and my vinyl is still just chillin' in PA with no ETA. So that's a good sign.
This record will be talked about and be up there with the classics like Futures, TGG, etc. Just those once in a decade sort of genre defining albums
I'm already on like my 4th listen through haha. Just getting better everytime. Not sure if intentional or not but it seems there are some cool little Easter eggs on guitar and with some specific vocal melodies calling back to previous songs/albums :)
Curious what you picked up on. There’s a specific melody in morning person that stood out to me but Allen has said none of it is intentional lol
The second verse of Fatal Flaw, from 2:00 to 2:05, has the same drum pattern, main guitar line and the melody sounds like a reprise of the end of the second chorus of Tough Love. It's also in the same key :) Maybe it's linked....... :p
There are a few parts on the album that remind me of other Arm’s Length songs and I’m not convinced it’s always intentional. I love the album though.
Let’s start by saying I love this record. But I’m not necessarily hearing the big level up that some people are. It’s a pretty natural continuation of the last one, and that’s fine! Since we’re doing Greatest Generation comparisons, I feel pretty much the same about the step from Suburbia to that album. Just two banger albums from a band at the peak of their powers.
