@imthegrimace after listening to their first album again I definitely have more positive thoughts but think it’ll still take several listens to get there. new one definitely took a couple listens for me but still feel like it grabbed me more immediately. either way this band is great and put out consistently great stuff
Just wanted to say I think this is my AOTY closely followed by Moving Mountains and Turnstile at #3...Tyler the Creator in top 5 too, need one more for a solid top 5 for 2025.
I don't know why this and Anxious didn't fully click with me when they were released, I think I'm gonna try them again this week and see how I feel
Anxious has done nothing for me after multiple attempts but Arm’s Length is one of my favorite of the year. Hope it clicks with you!
The World, Palinopsia, You Ominously End, Morning Person. Stunning opener and closer and l really had to think about the other two. It's all so fucking good.
To be fair with the Anamanaguchi album it was my first time listening to them so maybe it’s more of a leap if you’ve been fans of their earlier stuff. From what I gather the newest album is an outlier in sound.
Well I guess I’m checking out Anamanguchi now. Wiki says they’re “chiptune-based”. That’s a new one for me, but I’ll trust y’all.
Palinopsia is a heavy standout for me from the beginning for sure, love the lyrics. agreed on opener and closer as well! You Ominously End has been a standout to me each listen but last week while listening the lyrics really gutted me. I should’ve known by the name but once it sunk in what the song meant it really floored me, goddamn
As someone who can't connect with Anxious but think Arms Length are incredible, my favourite tracks from this are: . Fatal Flaw . The Weight . You Ominously End My friend who likes both bands says the best song is Morning Person
I also think this is my AOTY, Moving Mountains is giving it a run for its money but I think the lyrics on this hit a little closer to home for me this year. I haven't felt this way about a "new" band in a long time.. Favorite tracks if I had to choose: Fatal Flaw, You Ominously End, Early Onset & Morning Person.
