Not sure what variant it is, but it’s for sale on Amazon as well. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B5HGXB9S/?tag=absolutepunk-20
Oh wow I wasn't expecting the vinyl to sell so fast. I'll pre order that Amazon one and cancel if any other cool variants pop up. I'm assuming Amazon is just standard black?
Just caught this part of the press release In interviews Ben talked about him turning in an album he wrote to Sire/WB and being told to "keep writing" and basically rejected the demos he made (the band then wrote dozens of songs and kept writing until the label felt it was commercialized and mainstream enough to release). That's so cool that some of these songs have a history/concept that connects that far back.
Ugh hate major labels for reasons like this alone. Imagine if they released what was initially planned.. could have a completely different future for AFS but oh well at least they’re back now!
musically this album rips - it's classic AFS without feeling dated. I think Ben sounds great - I don't think he can sing like he did on Dead anymore which makes sense. I think fans will be very happy with this.
I like the single, but it's a bit simplistic lyrically. Is the rest of the album a bit more lyrically? I definitely hear the What to Do When You're Dead sound in it though, and that's an awesome thing.
Hey y’all. Fell upon hard times and am selling off some of my vinyl to put some funds back into savings. Please feel free to delete if inappropriate but I am not sure where else to post. I’ve got a Discogs and have some records near and dear to me up there. I’d rather them go to a good home than collect dust. Selling my black and green marble What To Do When You Are Dead from 2015. Selling some others from Circa, Jimmy Eat World and Fall Out Boy. Feel free to message me if interested. Thanks!
I tend to not say it out loud, but that EP is my favorite AFS release. It just hit me at a time when I really needed it. Title track is one of their best songs for sure.
Pretty sure that EP is all songs that Sire made then scrap to write more “hits” for Smile. Very frustrating since every song off that EP is better than most of Smile. Stupid majors ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think the EP is the songs they were writing for LP4 before they decided to call it. Though not sure how many of them could have been demos sitting around since before then. Cool EP though even though I think some of the lyrics are undercooked.
Hmmm perhaps. According to Ben they had a whole record done before Sire made them go back to write more and they did share the title track on Pure Volume prior to the album release but who knows. I will agree with you on some of the lyrics being a little lackluster in parts.
Just played the next single “Whatever, Who Cares.” it’s solid but wish Ben pushed his vocal a bit more. Song structure is a bit over simplified as well.
