I've really enjoyed the first couple of listens this weekend. This would have definitely lived on my off-brand 256mb MP3 player in high school.
my whole life is a bit. i just get really drunk and post the most bizarre shit. see you on the other side might be my new favourite song for a while. if every song had a part as good as the chorus it could be a favourite album of mine.
Gonna sound cliche but I listened to this like 4 times throughout the day as the weather was perfect for it - barely 60 degrees, cloudy and a consistent rain - and sure enough it worked perfectly for that
I don’t think the vocal melodies on this hit the highs of their peak but the production is immaculate and I missed Ben’s voice so much. Those alone are gonna drive a lot of listens. and I too listened to this on a long, cool, rainy drive today and it was perfect.
I jammed it 3-4 times now. Still digging it. But now I’m sucked into a Jimmy Eat World discography run through.
"Go chase new rainbows on your own" Might be the nicest thing someone anyone has ever said to their ex. Like JEW's Damage this is a mature break-up record and then some concept stuff about a post-apocalypse mixed in which I think ends up just supporting the end of relationship themes rather than standing on it's own. Still doing more listens through but my take for now is it's solid throughout though doesn't really throw a lot of surprises.
Indeed. One might say I should Lean into it. Or if I put on the Authority Song, I could Get It Faster. But I’ll Always Be on my way to Your House. I want to played this game I Invented.
Just so emo. I mean the rain being a possible metaphor for his tears. A museum of tears. Does it get better than that. It’s like a more appropriate/mature path for coping…you know rather than becoming a ghost that haunts your ex all the time. Cause we all know that didn’t work out as planned.
Yea, I’ve been playing it 2-3 times a day since it dropped.. I like it more and more. I know it doesn’t reinvent the wheel but it’s super fun.
Yeah this is super enjoyable and a “noodler” that gets in your head and sticks and pops up to the surface here and there. Likely that “New Rainbows” will remain my favorite from this. That one stuck with me right from the start, although “In This Nightmare Together” gives it a run on some days.
Finally have listened to this enough to feel like I can say that wow this is amazing and exactly what I wanted from them
The more I listen to this the more little throwback moments come up, like various riffs inflections in Ben’s voice nightmare and rainbows are definitely my top 2 but nothing I don’t like
Wow that one is epic. Puts my half pink/half blue to shame. Love how much of the art work they brought into the different variants
