every movie doesn't have to be like happy and joyful but this just bummed me out haha

 

I really appreciated the Entenmann's cameo. You can't have a Jewish family without it.

 

i agree but my wife's extremely catholic jersey family also constantly had them around. i think it's more regional than purely jewish

 

It is really funny that we are getting two mid-century period pieces that function as semi-autobiographical depictions of the directors' Jewish upbringing in the same month. It is like Armageddon vs. Deep Impact or No Strings Attached vs. Friends with Benefits.

 

and in both cases there's like one Jewish actor haha

 

I thought this sucked.

 

It's probably James Gray's worst film and is really messy but there is some heart there.

James was on Maron today. what a lord. still don't love this one but i love his work.

 

finally saw this, and yeah, pretty meager effort from JG. still liked most of it i guess

 

more james gray is always good
