This was my AOTY and ended up displacing the TWY record for that spot, right at the end of the year. This record is an instant classic in my eyes and I cannot believe Chorus isn't eating this up more than they are. This band is definitely the future and I agree with what another poster said, it feels like we're about to watch something special unfold with this band a la Modern Baseball (this record is that level of special already - now the scene is catching on).
I'm 34 and loving this band. Got into them after Spotify randomly played me Gallows Humour from their EP before this album. Been hooked ever since!
Agreed I can't understand how this thread has 4 pages instead of 100. Reviews are not as big of a focus for the site nowadays but 10 years ago this would have received a 95 on AP and an extra few thousand users would be checking it out. No doubt in my mind. Anyway I'd say it reminds me quite a bit of Home era Hotelier.
I get a ton of Hotelier too, but it more reminds me of a bridge between It Never Goes Out and some of the more straightforward songs on Home (Scope, Framing, etc). The opening riff on Object Permeance in particular strikes me as kind of an interpolation of Scope's opening riff.
Yep been spending some a lot of time with this and if I discovered it as it came out it would def been in my top albums list
They did really well supporting Hot Mulligan tonight. There was a decent group who sung every word, and I spoke to a couple of people after who said they were converted. They also said it one of their biggest ever shows.
Did they have any merch over? / Any ideas on prices of theirs and hot mullys merch ? Seeing them tomorrow in Glasgow. The intense pride of posting it all over my social media saying "jump on these bands" for it to eventually sell out
£25 for t shirts, they had two designs, one on white and one on black, and then there was also a hoodie for £45. I got a black shirt purely to support them and say hi, and the quality is surprisingly good and it has front and back printing.
Arm's length absolutely smashed it last night in Glasgow. Really enjoyed their set. I wasn't overly keen on their merch, so gave it a miss unfortunately.
