Watched the entirety of Victorious, and seeing her progressively get darker skin wise as the seasons went by was weird. Her refusal to acknowledge the issue (ie. her latest IG post) as well.
Ive only read the lyrics so far but tbh I'm always annoyed by songs about wealth and glamour sung by rich people like it's one thing for it to be a rags to riches story or idolizing wealth as an indicator of success from a place of poverty cause at least I get the sentiment even tho there's more complexities behind it. Like I def remember being a kid not well off fantasizing about being rich someday. A woman who grew up wealthy and has only become more rich over time singing "Whoever said money can't solve your problems must not have had enough money to solve 'em" like legitimately annoys me lol. Maybe it's not fair but that lyric would annoy me less if it was by someone who didn't grow up in wealth
Pretty much agree. I will always be ready to hear Jay rap about money but a song celebrating money by someone born into money is basically this:
Gangnam Style is one of the greatest songs ever made and any parodies should never be shared. Shame on you, TLM. SHAME.
Omg not her taking a page from Taylor's handbook and using feminism and women's accomplishments to detract from valid racism criticism. The nerve.
Based on her Twitter activity right now, pre-orders for this will be up Friday, and it seems like the release is February 8th. Also haven't commented on the songs yet, but Thank U Next is alright. Better than most off of Sweetner, but 7 Rings is the worst thing she's ever done
I dislike the combo of Sweetener and Successful more than just about anything. Except for maybe Popular Song.
