I love all of her chart-topping singles, but I'm here for the chill vibes too. Three listens in and I think this record has as much replay value as any of them. I don't judge a pop artist's output based on the number of bangers. She's trying some stuff out and I'm enjoying it.
My one complaint is that mechanical exhaling sound throughout "pov." It sounds like an iron lung, which makes "i love to see me from your point of view" extra funny
May be an unpopular opinion but I have been disappointed in Ariana's output since Dangerous Woman. She has such an incredible voice and so much talent and I just want her to be belting out notes. The chill R&B vibes of this album or something like 7 rings from thank u next are just not doing it for me.
I don’t think this will top thank u next for me, but I appreciate how she did not feel the need to make a bombastic pop album with a bunch of smash singles coming off her biggest year ever. The promo is light, the music is pillowy. Vibe out and enjoy.
I've only been a casual fan of her up to this point, but I defonitely agree this is her most consistent album. Yeah, there are no massive radio hits (except for the title track maybe) on here, but it does what it's supposed, and there's not a single bad track here.
I think it’s the first AG release without an instant top tier track that I need to go back to, but it’s also probably her most consistent edit: I’ve decided my favorites are magic and table
This clicked a bit more for me last night. “pov” and “off the table” are the highlights for me. Also not to beat a dead horse but saying she “needs to stop releasing albums when she’s bored” is such a slap in the face to thank u, next being made during her immediate grief. If this recent run isn’t your jam that’s fine but that comment strikes me as pretty disrespectful
The more I watch the Adult Swim performance, the more I want: 1. DOMi/JD album 2. Ari/Thundercat collab 3. This performance on streaming
