I know there was an article a few years back about how pop music has gotten darker, but I'd be damned if it hasn't become darker still. I'd even call this record sparse. Had to cleanse my palate with some Girls' Generation and Perfume after this one. Whew.
Had the same dilemma when I went to lunch just now. Then "Into You" came on and I just couldn't resist. I shutter to think how many people saw.
Damn, this is a near-flawless pop record. Not one skippable track. More and more impressed the more I listen.
I didn't realize the last 4 were bonus tracks...they're 4 of the best songs on the album, what the hell.
it's 59 minutes and 16 songs. some good songs, but not enough variety / sequencing / whatever to warrant a ++ over a + from me. i recognize there are bonus songs, but when 2 of the bonus songs are top 5 on the record and you're clearly going to push them to radio, you're not doing a good enough job distinguishing them from album tracks.
Only listened once, first impression is that its solid. Not even on the same planet as Lemonade, though, as far as major pop releases go.
It's eleven songs. Dangerous Woman (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Your inability to differentiate between bonus and standard editions is not Ariana's fault, nor is it her issue that you think some of the bonus tracks (key word: bonus) are among the best released. If you have an issue with an album that's less than an hour long at the absolute longest idk what to tell you.
Just out of curiosity, for anyone who has purchased the record, is there an option to buy just the album without the bonus tracks? Spotify includes the track and a quick hop over to iTunes doesn't revealed that doesn't appear to be an option. And to clarify, I am talking about the 4 bonus tracks included on Spotify, as I'm lead to believe there are two additional tracks on the Target release.
I didn't like her first album much, but this one sold me. Very solid release. Now to check out those bonus songs that I skipped earlier.
I figured as much, but I couldn't find a track listing when I looked it up on Amazon or Target. Thanks
Alright, I've listened to it enough that I feel like I can say something about it. What a good album. My favorite tracks are I Don't Care, Thinking Bout You, Be Alright, Let Me Love You (not Wayne's verse though), and Side to Side. Finding it hard to skip any tracks though, they're all really good.
This is her first album that's great all the way through, her first two I really like but also had a couple clear misses.
My Everything is one of the best pop albums of the last few years. This is too. I think I've settled on "Into You" as my favorite track
So one thing that kind of stuck out to me has been "Bad Decisions" and how it almost seems to eschew the normal "verse / pre-chorus / chorus" formula. The verse portion of the song is pretty obvious, but then it transitions into four pretty distinct sections before returning to the verse. First, is the "I been doing stupid things . . . " section, which seems like a traditional pre-chorus segment. It next goes into the "we got that hood love" section, which seems very chorus-like, but that is followed by two more distinct sections before returning to the verse: the "they say it's wrong" section that ultimately gives way to the "bad decisions" part. Song is such a jam. And I think it is aided by slightly tweaking expectations when it comes to structure.
Loving this album! The bonus tracks are all great. Fav was either Sometimes or Moonlight after one listen
