I'm gonna take my time and explore the options when I have a freestyle machine in front of me, especially if I'm paying $8 for a drink at the theater but I go in with a general idea, Pibb is probably my go to off the freestyle - maybe 1/4 vanilla and the rest regular (cuz the vanilla always tastes too strong on its own)
Root Beer (Barq's in particular) is an S-tiet soda Loved Dr. Pepper growing up and still love the idea of it, but the older I get, the less I want it. Too much going on to be refreshing IMHO. Although the dark berry Dr. Pepper was fire
Root beer is absolutely the grossest soda I've ever had personally, but I know I'm in the minority. It tastes... Minty? Bleh. Dr. Pepper is one of those weird ones where I fucking love it out of a can, but all other forms let me down. Sunkist is the GOAT. Or Pepsi. That's a hard one actually.
