I will preface this by saying I'm a huge fan of AM, and I think that album is a lot more brilliant than some people want to give it credit for. It's probably in my top three albums from that year, maybe second overall behind Humbug in their discography for me. Superbly sequenced; well-executed; some super interesting themes at play... But the decision to put "I Want It All" on that album over "Stop the World, I Wanna Get Off With You" still drives me absolutely insane and was a huge mistake.
All of this right here. Also "Stop the World, I Wanna Get Off With You" is a fucking JAM but the song seems to be lacking a little in energy. With a little touch up in the studio- this could have been one of the best songs on AM.
Made me way more excited. Alex's lyrics are my favorite part of the band and it sounds like they're at the forefront, so I'm pretty pumped. Not that the quoted lyrics are great or anything but the review makes it sound like it's an album full of rich and dense lyrics.
Yeah exact opposite for me as well haha, this sounds really cool. I'm definitely down for a more introspective, moody AM album.
That's very intriguing. Also glad to see someone recognize the cultural anxiety present in AM in print, haha.
All my NYC peeps. Arctic Monkeys just announced a super small show at Brooklyn Steel on May 9th. Tickets on sale Friday. May the concert gods be on our side when trying to get these tickets.
Was literally in the “waiting room” 10 minutes before they went on sale but it went live at 10:01 so I feel like I never actually had a chance
Did you see their plan to fight them? I'm pretty ignorant to this stuff....were bots still a problem? Seems like it would have been pointless since the tickets can't be resold at profit. September 2018 Live Dates - Anti-Touting Measures | Arctic Monkeys Edit: I realize this announcement is for the September dates, but San Diego tickets for May are up on the resale site they mention in the announcement.
Humbug is great. Been going through their discog over the past 5 months.First three albums are so consistent.
