When bands have millions of fans, there’s bound to be a strong contingent of people who like any given album
I'd much rather an artist attempt something different than make the same album every time. This is a lush & enjoyable album
I'll be the first to admit, its far from a perfect album. But even in the less interesting songs, there are still parts that are fantastic. For example, I don't think The World's First Ever Monster Trunk Front Flip is the greatest song on the album, but damn its so great and croon-y when the chorus kicks in.
This is still the only Arctic Monkeys album I've listened to lol oops. It absolutely owns though. It's clever and funny and engaging imo
This band has a very strong, VERY strong, "each album is worse than the one before" for me. The debut is easily the best for me, the second felt like a watered down version of that, then I've hated the last two each with more passion than the last
For me, the greatness of this album is easily summed up in this performance... Alex Turner puts 300% into this and knocks it out of the park. Plus, you get to hear Stephen Colbert say, 'The Ultracheese' un-ironically
im all for an artist trying new things w albums but this album is like one song for 40 min continuously
May I ask how many times you've listened to it? I felt the same at first (actually feel that way about most albums), but over time it really opened up for me. I went from lukewarm on it, to my favorite of 2018.
Having this one around on vinyl has significantly elevated its stature for me. Probably not their best record but in the right context it might be my favorite to put on. I personally have always really enjoyed when artists put out these more "mood" oriented releases.
Yes, I find someone crooning about taquerias in space and monster trucks to be pretty enjoyable and funny.
I own it on vinyl and have listened to it a handful of times but again since i really need to be in the right mood for it, its hard for me to just throw it on, and the songs arent in really any of my playlists.
This album really revived my interest in them, I was a huge fan of their first two albums and then lost interest until this came out. Just didn't like the Josh Homme era.
Honestly same. I loved their first two when they came out but they kind of lost me with Humbug and Suck It and See. Liked a few tracks from AM when it was released but it was really this album that got me to dive fully into them again. Now I love them all, this one especially.
oh wow, I totally forgot that Humbug and Suck it and See are two different albums, I thought this band was only at 4 total
Humbug is still their best in my opinion, but I have enjoyed this one a lot. Thanks for getting my attention back to this. Now I will surely listen it again tomorrow. The only album I never really got into was Suck It And See. There are some great songs, but I never really liked it as a whole.
