Ok this has grown on me quite a bit since my first listen. Still my least favorite album by them, but I'm starting to see its appeal.
okay after really digesting this i gotta say ready for it please dont be mad its not my fault okay this is their best album lol
the best song theyve ever written and im so fucking happy it got the dopest fucking music video theyve ever made
ive changed my twitter name to spread the good word tranquility base hotel + casino in stores now (@jakej654) | Twitter
off the top of my head would have to be When the Sun Goes Down 505 Pretty Visitors Love is a Laserquest Knee Socks (thus far) Golden Trunks from the bsides you've got standouts like Despair in the Departure Lounge, If You're Reading This and 2013
Really, really cannot get into this. Maybe I need to be in the right headspace or something but I didn't like the songs I heard at all. I'll try again since everyone is super hype over it, but there's so much other shit that I am into to listen to first
It reminds me of why I don't like Father John Misty. I'm not into this lounge music revival or whatever is happening. Again, I haven't listened in full and maybe it'll click. EDIT: I should also say that I've never liked this band and don't think I've ever listened to a full record by them
Hi all, First post and made the account just to discuss this record. Also to comment on the jackass who trolled in pages 18-21 who said something I had to defend. "the moon's side boob" lyric is a little baffling, but it's actually an inside joke with Jamie (guitarist) who in an interview a while back described a crescent moon as the moon's side boob. The lyric is just saying 'kiss me under a crescent moon', which is (a) not the stereotypical romantic full moon type shot and (b) it's also just a little bit of humour in an immensely cynical album. The first 3-5 times I listened to this, I honestly thought it was trash. now, about 50+ listens later, I adore it. I love that all the mainstream success they gathered from AM was just tossed aside. I'm 100% on board with a band that can make bold interesting music without a care for radio play. I started getting into it by slowly just grabbing on to pieces within the song. One of my first real 'aha' reactions was in Science Fiction, the "I want to make a simple point about peace and love, but in a sexy way where it's not obvious" line really painted out the rest of the song and it's meaning to me and it's such a simple idea but dressed up (except for that line and the "too clever for its own good" line) to hide it. I'm not sure where this is ranking for me, but it's surely one of their most INTERESTING records, and that has value
I'm not sure if I should be worried or impressed that you listened to something you hated 5 times, AND then another 45 times?!?!??!!?!?!?
I’ve been listening to this non stop, it’s so good. I just saw that they broke a 25 year old record for vinyl sales in a week in the UK.
I mean the three worst posters on the site agree with something I feel like objectively the album has to be good now
Arctic Monkeys are my all time favourite band. I usually give me go to bands the investment they deserve and they deserved the benefit of the doubt. I work in an office where listening to music through headphones is pretty standard so I easily listened to this 2-3 times a day during working hours alone. The most I listened, the more I liked it.
This is definitely a record best suited for headphones or a good home stereo. Casually hearing the tracks in the background of a store or over the radio just won't grab ya.
