a certain romance do me a favour crying lightning piledriver waltz do I wanna know I can’t pick a for real favourite from tbhc yet but currently it’s the title track with golden trunks in a close second
Alex Turner's body of work is pretty fuckin incredible: 1) Whatever People Say I Am... 2) Favorite Worst Nightmare 3) Age of the Understatement (Last Shadow Puppets) 4) Humbug 5) Submarine (solo ep) 6) Suck It and See 7) AM 8) Everything You've Come to Expect (LSP) 9) Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino Nine projects that are all substantially different from each other, and I genuinely love every one of them. Not another songwriter alive I can say that for.
Not to mention his songwriting/producing is all over Alexandra Savior's album from last year, Belladonna of Sadness. Flew very under the radar, but you can definitely hear his influence all over the project. Great album. Cool little video about the making of the album that features a bit of Alex and James Ford:
I had heard this mentioned in the lead up to TBHC but forgot to look into it. Gonna give it a listen now, thanks!
I know some of her interviews around the time of the release came off like she resented just how Turner it was, so I'm really interested to see the direction her follow-up takes.
I mean at least Steve realizes there's no sense lingering around in a thread for an album you don't like. Say your piece you're valid in not liking it but unless you're still trying to like an album you don't like what more do you really have to add here? It's natural people who do like it will keep posting because we're listening to it multiple times
Yea I was about to say, you have been improving on that! Still love this album, sad to see some people not connecting with it
When people say they “forgot how to write decent songs” I take it as they didn’t write the same songs over and over again.
"Where I ponder all the questions but just manage to miss the mark" <-- Alex has a tendency to use a word multiple times in a song with different meanings... see: Cornerstone.
