Though I did laugh at the "what do you mean you've not seen blade runner" line as I said the exact same thing to my girlfriend before we went to see BR2049
I was talking with someone about the album, and he thought it was "unmemorable" and "I just have no idea what the fuck they're trying to do", culminating with "this thing is like, schmaltzy spoken word sci-fi" so yea this album is gonna divide some people. I'm all aboard for it though.
I've been listening all day and I absolutely love it. I have the album on repeat on my phone and I'm obsessed with how the end of "The Ultracheese" plays right into the beginning of the album on "Star Treatment".
I'm a huge Arctic Monkeys fan, but after 3 listens I still haven't been able to get into this. One Point Perspective and Four out of Five are the only two that really grabbed me. I'm gonna give it a few more full listens, hoping it'll finally click. For those who enjoy the album, what have been the standouts for you?
The vocal delivery on "every time there was a rocket launch, or some big event" on Ultracheese is so so good
I've listened to it once so far but for me it was One Point Perspective, title track, She Looks Like Fun and Batphone
Star Treatment, One Point Perspective, Tranqulity Hotel & Casino, Four Out of Five, Batphone. Although I like this album for what it is and think it’s a nice and welcomed addition to their discography, i do hope they pick up the pace a bit in hopefully future releases.. and that we won’t have to wait 5 years again. Lyrics are great, though. “I put a taqueria on the roof. It was well reviewed.”
The entire run from Four Out of Five to the end is fucking gold imo, not a song I thought was subpar there first half is definitely denser and harder to get into, but Star Treatment and Golden Trunks are emerging as standouts
I'm very intrigued by this. Super casual Arctic monkeys fan but this sounds really interesting and like something I might like based on your reactions. Plus I've been listening to them more the last couple weeks already so it's coming at a good time.
The bass playing and tone on this album is phenomenal. It holds together each and every song. This album definitely takes more than a few listens to really click.
Idk how people always find the way to be optimistic. The album is not good, and they are getting worse as time goes by.
A good number of people count AM as their favorite. It was definitely their most popular in the US. Trying to wait for Friday to listen...
what a great opener. very bowie-esque. the way he uses his falsetto on it is pretty new for them and cool too.
american sports is incredible, the bass is really out of this world. people think this sounds like a solo album? have you ever heard a solo album before??
